I'm curious as to how this works. What keeps it so that people don't feed the robot empty dvd's?

I would imagine that they require credit card validation.

Credit card validation of what?
What stops anyone from feeding the machine a copy of Vice City and cashing in for a copy of GTA IV.
You get a phone call: "Sir, you've been cheating our machine. Don't do that again"
"uhm honest mistake, sorry"?

Surely they could stick some kind of warning on it that by trading in a game you legally enter a contract or agreement that you're not scamming them, and if you are found to have done that then they call you and arrange for you to pay back the money or whatever.

Then if you don't, they can always take you to court or whatever, if they can be bothered for the $1 you ripped them off for that fake PS2 game.

I'm pretty sure you have to physically feed it the disc and reads it, because you're correct, its not going to use the honor system.

If you just put the disk in the machine and it shot human excriment all over your shoes it would still be a better experience than Gamestop.

But how'd it work? Machine scans UPC, them you drop off the case and get credit?

It may have potential as an alternative to other sorts of trades around...

I despise Wal-Mart, but if you can buy PS2 and Xbox games at Goodwill and trade them in for more money, then bonus.

I still think NBA 2K1 is the best simulation basketball game ever made. The best overall basketball game is obviously NBA Jam.

The best simulation basketball game ever is me going outside with a basketball and failing misserably. It's almost real, but not quite.

"...so you can finally get rid of that copy of Blinx you were really hoping would become rare some day!"

Rare? I was just hoping it'd get on the back-compat list. :P

Although at this point, hoping for it to become rare and super-valuable is probably just as likely as it becoming backwards-compatible. *sigh*

Maybe now I'll get more than $ 3.00 for when I trade in 6 games.....

I know that's not completely accurate, but that's how much I feel I get for the amount of games I give.

Saw this at my local Wal mart this weekend. Basically scan the upc code from the game box and insert the game into the machine. The box is not required. Did not fully examine all the details of the trade in process.
