Even in this crazy Kotec world it's refreshing to know the sun still rises in the east, Wheaties is still the breakfast of champions and Koei and the Dynasty Warriors are still best buds. Some things, you see, never change.
The latest in Koei's venerable action strategy franchise, Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires, will arrive on June 23 for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, promising character editing and a return to series' button mashing heroics set in China's good old days. Equally ancient is the game's multiplayer mode, with just two players supported offline and apparently no online mode at all. Still, with its boots stuck in history, it sort of completes the symmetry to have the whole experience cemented in the distant past.

If they're going to keep the rehash, they really need to be realistic on the pricing... maybe $40 at the most. As much as I would love to buy it, I'm not dropping a full $60 on this when you've got great games like Infamous that deserve that money.

Its hardly dead. There dozens of important officers of the time that have yet to be given real characters, despite some of them being more interesting than some of the current player characters.

Please go back to the Romance series (but do it right). This period of history is very interesting and they aren't doing it justice by rehasing these games.

This is EMPIRES 6, which I believe is some kind of spin-off.
I can't say I've followed the series since the second game.
If they'd actually make a proper sequel that actually uses the PS3/360's power, then I might be interested again, but stop these rehashes.. I can't believe anyone is still buying them.

I'm pretty sure there's much more than six dynasty warriors. especially if you count the extreme versions of the games.
WHY THE FUCK DO PEOPLE KEEP BUYING THEM??

I think I may be one of the only people who actually love these games, despite the repetitiveness and flaws. Ah well. I'll get it when it's out. I like me some button smashin' hack n' slashin'! lol

to have mp but not online these days should be punishable by death and thats what i hope will happen to the series, it will die and while koei are at it they cant take the near identical gundam warriors with it.

Yeah, my best friend and I play these a lot on his big screen TV (so the split screen isn't so bad). You can only play so much Gears, Crackdown, RE5 and Fable 2 lol.

I love the dynasty warriors (fours the best one), but come on already, would it be so hard to give me online co-op? 6 was the first released for this generation of consoles, but Koei fails to realize how much better their game would be if i and a friend could take on lu bu together.
Didnt buy six because of lack of online co-op, wont be buying this one either. hopefully they do it right in 7.

I know I'm finished with these type of games until online coop. 5 was great and I'll just continue to play that offline until a version comes out with online coop. Versus is stupid for those types of games.

I like my DW, but FUCK YOU KOEI! I wanted this shit to be DLC. And I hear no Japanese audio on DWG2? Fuck.

while it would be nice to play DW again... they usually have some of the worst english voice work you can imagine. IMO they should save some money, don't offer english voice at all and run purely with subtitling.
I'm fine with the gameplay and multiplayer being somewhat archaic, afterall I don't play anything online that's not an MMO anyway, *HOWEVER* not having the option to co-op online as well as offline is a bit... silly.

I don't mind the voice acting subtitles would be difficult to hear during battle. I haven't watched the cut scenes since DW3. I don't care whats going on the battle since most levels you just go straight for the generals and then onto the next until you finish.

I wish there'd be a Gundam Empires game. That'd be sweet.

I'm all for getting this. I got into DW with the release of DW:Gundam. I know they're repetitive and rarely change with each sequel, but you could say the same thing for most games out there. I could name names, but I don't want rabid fanboys coming down on my like a southern hail storm. Anyhoo, the game's (expansion?) is gonna be around the town of $40 or so, so I'm all for it. If there's anything to bitch about it's that part 6 really, REALLY looked like a PS2 game. I don't care which system you owned it on(save for the PS2), the game wasn't worth $60. I hope when DW7 hits, it's a true next(bah, this is the current gen, not the next)-gen with graphics that take advantage of the respective systems capabilities.

If the Dynasty Warriors series went online, it would probably get more buyers, because the Samurai Warriors series is not as popular as Dynasty Warriors. At least they can have the two armies, have each person be an officer and one of them be Commander randomly. Each officer have troops, and the regular gameplay. Ranked or Player Matches, each with Dynasty Warriors Officers, or Custom Officers. I can keep going, but that would be too long. Does anyone understand what l mean?
