This is going to be one of those games that are going to be great, but not going to get enough hype or marketing. It will be a real gem, but may get over looked during this E3. Hopefully Joystiq will have a great write up of it at E3.

I think anyone who played Crackdown will be all over this. They'll make their own hype.

BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!!

I think I was/am a sheep. I bought crackdown ONLY so I could play the halo 3 beta. How lame of me. Crackdown was amazing and I'm so glad I got to play it. There is no way I would have bought it otherwise. I was hooked after about 5 minutes.

@tenor - I agree. I can only hope that they implement the excellent Crackdown style co-op as well.

I think I remember reading about this years ago, in the PS3 mag I used to buy before I discovered Joystiq. Sounded quite interesting - from what I understand, it's basically a massive online cops vs. robbers game.

In a PS3 mag? Really? It's a 360 / PC exclusive currently. Must have not announced platforms when it was first announced.

Actually, it's PC timed exclusive, with a possible PS360 version coming at a later date.

"Noting that Crackdown was the only game to fall under the exclusivity contract the studio signed with Microsoft in 2005, the RTW rep said that if it does proceed with console editions of the game, both an Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 version are on the table, confirming rumors sparked last week concerning a possible edition of the game on Sony's console."

Its probably coming for the PC/360 first and later for PS3.

Nope. The devs themselves say that PC first, and then maybe the two console versions later.

Unless something changes at E3 (always possible), I don't see why a 360 version would launch alongside a PC versoin.

Anything can happen at E3.

Just like the Xbox 360 version of Left 4 Dead launched alongside the PC version, Ms. Hyams.

Classic muscle cars, Capri pants and tattoo'd women with shotguns. It's like they entered my mind to make the perfect game. Now all they need are stealth classes with corderoid pants and we're set.

I am amazed at how many instances of the word "corderoids" there are on Google, for being a completely made-the-fuck-up word.

Actually, this announcement was an exclusive for APB-Evolved, a fansite community, and we are not RTW's "blog" (though they have given us updates in the past).

As for which platform it is coming out on, it was originally a 360 title, but for now only been confirmed for the PC, with consoles to be looked at after that. But with RTW's history with Microsoft and the 360, I wouldn't be surprised to see it come to the 360, and am in fact hoping that it does.

And yes, the game is essentially an online Enforces vs. Gangs, but there will not be a class system, as it is more based on character customization and player skill levels. Go to APB-Evolved for more info.

I can't wait to be an enforcer.
I'll be packing every cliche I can into my character!

A burnt out robocop with nothing to lose who's out for revenge for the murder of his partner who was 3 days away from retirement. Did I mention he's a judge, jury and executioner who plays by his own rules and happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time?

Captain Planet has not been summoned in quite some time and has never heard of the "APB" game.

Upon further investigation and research, Captain Planet is giving APB an 'Official Captain Planet The Power is Yours to Buy This Game' rating.

For a split second, I thought this story was about new Fallout 3 DLC - them folks look like Raiders to my Wasteland-addled brain.

Crackdown was my first Xbox 360 game, and the first game played on my first ever HDTV. As such, it holds a very special place in my heart. Colour me excited.

I haven't really been following this game, but I was at an industry event ("Industry" used loosely, because I'm not part of it, I just have connections) in Dundee last year. They showed about a minute of prototype gameplay footage. Showed teams of players in a gang in a gunfight with a team playing as cops. Looked pretty much how you'd expect, but the producer mentioned features about gang management and planning heists that made it sound much deeper than GTA IV's online mode. I didn't realise nothing had really came out about it since. I considered bootlegging it, but I was planning to apply to Realtime Worlds for a job, the next week, so I didn't want to blow my chances (nothing came of it, by the way).

I was there too, actually. Also this year they showed the character customisation system which they said was footage which was actually a year old. It looked sweet then so it might be even better now.

All told, though, it looks like GTA IV multiplayer on steroids and they've been talking about it for years (I've got a PC mag from 2007 saying its release is imminent, FFS) with nothing really to show. It's heading a bit towards the vapourware status but I'm sure it'll be pretty successful when it finally appears.
