Rolling stones and cymbals: 505 Games announces Rolling Stone: Drum King

The game is planned for a spring release, and still tasks players with keeping smooth timing by mimicking drumming through use of the Wiimote and Nunchuk. It will also feature local multiplayer support for you and a friend, and has over 30 "top quality cover tracks" inspired by real bands. Head past the break for the full list and a trailer snagged from the Amazon product page for the game.

This is full of dumb.
With silly branding efforts like this, no wonder RS has rendered itself so irrelevant. They can't even get master tracks.
Maybe they should have Cameron Crowe ask everyone he knows real nicely.
Seriously, I almost thought this was a belated April Fool's Day joke.
SnesR0X @ May 19th 2009 2:30PM
I believe you mean "Spoonman- inspired by Soundgarden"
Shagittarius @ May 19th 2009 3:21PM
I believe Soundgarden was inspired by Spoonman....thats why they wrote a song about him.
Raikage (Mr. ESC? Mr. ESC? MR. ESSSSSSCCCCCC!) @ May 19th 2009 2:30PM

THE WICKER MAN (BWF) (GT: Dalek Prime) @ May 19th 2009 2:50PM
All still alive and kicking. :D
Mr Khan @ May 19th 2009 4:41PM
Damn it has been a while, but yeah, ESC is back (though under a different monicker), and Fatass is now running under 3 different names simultaneously

I hope this music fad in gaming ends soon. The whole idea of playing plastic guitars is so stupid, go learn the actual instrument and have actual skills.
baby sea tuna @ May 19th 2009 2:36PM
What an original and well thought out response!
THE WICKER MAN (BWF) (GT: Dalek Prime) @ May 19th 2009 2:37PM
Theres one of you in every post! Oh you are sooooo awesome! I'm so glad you play guitar. I do agree with you about this getting to be too much though. These companies will not stop until the sales do though. Poor branding for RS too.
Raikage (Back from hiatus) @ May 19th 2009 2:38PM
I've been gone for 6 months (last post Nov 19) and they're still posting this garbage? Really?
I feel right back at home, I missed you guys :D
WREturns @ May 19th 2009 2:39PM
I hope this FPS fad in gaming ends soon. The whole idea of moving dual analogs to shoot a gun is so stupid, go shoot an actual firearm and have actual skills.
I hope this RPG fad in gaming ends soon. The whole idea of selecting text to stab someone is so stupid, go get a spiky hairdo and take giant-sword-fighting lessons and have actual skills.
I hope this beat-'em-up fad in gaming ends soon. The whole idea of pushing a button to whomp someone's ass is so stupid, go learn mixed martial arts and have actual skills.
cuteSAVAGE @ May 19th 2009 2:40PM
I've played music more than half of my life. That being said, I generally suck at music games. They take more skill than any game out there. Sure, nothing will ever replace a genuine musical instrument, but they are fun to play and difficult to master - and that is all that matters.
Instead of commenting on a video game blog, why don't you write a letter to your local government representative... You know, write something that matters.
Shagittarius @ May 19th 2009 3:18PM
"I generally suck at music games. They take more skill than any game out there."
I gotta call BS on this...Simon Says is one of the easiest games I know of. Especially when Simon doesn't even try to fool you.
cuteSAVAGE @ May 19th 2009 2:32PM
Those massive ugly note blobs make it look a lot like KLAX.

I loved KLAX!

Seems the gallery isn't working for me... I can see the thumbnails, but since it's on the Wii, I guess it won't be much higher-res than thumbnails... Oh snap!
YES HE DID GO THERE!
just kidding of course...
baby sea tuna @ May 19th 2009 2:35PM
APRIL FOO...oh, wait, this is real.
Commencing facepalm in 5...4...3...
Tony @ May 19th 2009 2:38PM
This game looks TERRIBLE. FULL of PHAIL.
carg0 @ May 19th 2009 2:40PM
id naturally be offended by this kind of blatant shovelware but then i read further and discovered it's being made for the Wii.
par for the course...
thewalrusking @ May 19th 2009 3:01PM
I love the Stones I do, but they are always doing what the Beatles are doing. Following in their footsteps both musically and career wise. After Sgt Pepper they do Her Satanic Majesties, after Let it Be, they do Let it Bleed, after the Anthology they do their own giant retrospective book, now after Beatles Rock Band, they do this. They are all talented guys but their idea men, their managers etc have no original ideas. Im just waiting for their Cirque de soloi show. But I still love the Stones.
XBL: Burritoclock @ May 19th 2009 3:24PM
I would point out the obvious, but you wouldn't read it anyway....
baby sea tuna @ May 19th 2009 3:29PM
*sigh*

smh...
Zack11190 @ May 19th 2009 4:26PM
*facepalm*
Mr Khan @ May 19th 2009 4:42PM
This is where the shovelware publishers, like 505, step in.
Storm Eagle @ May 19th 2009 3:02PM
LOL. You'll notice in the vid that when they're showing actual gameplay, whoever is playing the game either sucks royally or the game really doesn't work at all. They keep getting a 'poor' rating on all the notes.
Jay Voorhees @ May 19th 2009 3:07PM
This just might be the worst idea for a game, ever.
GohanGVO @ May 19th 2009 3:08PM
Any game featuring "All Star" is automatically fail.
OhJustSomeRandomGuy @ May 19th 2009 3:27PM
I don't understand, why would you dedicate an entire game to making drumming look uncool?
Aero @ May 19th 2009 3:31PM
Is anyone else actually tired of guitar/band games now?
cuteSAVAGE @ May 19th 2009 3:32PM
Adolph most certainly seems to be.

lame...but it's about time a rhythm game used a Femmes song
MrSpaceCowboy @ May 19th 2009 9:30PM
I don't know if I would rather play this or Rock Revolution.
