Update: Microsoft PR has just confirmed the 1 vs 100 Twitter account referenced in this story is run by the team responsible for the game; however, no other details were shared at this time.
According to a 1 vs 100 Twitter page, a US beta for the Xbox Live Primetime games service is planned and will be announced within the next 24 hours. Of course, as natural skeptics, we bothered Major Nelson to confirm the account is actually affiliated with the upcoming game. According to Major, "The 1v100 team put that up. So, yes it's real."
However, when contacted for comment, Microsoft PR hastily denied the Twitter account was connected to the game and insisted no announcement was planned. Thus, the miscommunication parade from Microsoft continues. Over the last month, Microsoft's communication guns have been firing blanks, beginning with accidentally claiming a Wolverine demo was available weeks before it was actually scheduled, followed by the incorrect pricing of Lode Runner and Blazing Birds and mistakenly categorizing Bionic Commando Rearmed as this week's Xbox Live Deal.
Joystiq has since contacted Microsoft again, hoping that both hands of its communication arms consult and come to some kind of mutual conclusion.

I was not referring to 1 vs. 100 I think that is a wonderful idea. The issue that I have is that pricing on certain things have been messed up these past two months and some things have been rescheduled...

I would go with what the major said. At this point in time, MS PR is probably being told to "deny everything they dont know about" in order to prevent any (more) leaks.
Why do you think we still have approx. zero information on the Zune HD? MS is doing a much better job than normal of keeping things under wraps for this E3.

It's so fun! But kind of saddening watching what people get wrong, and what people get right...
To bad it's on so late, I'm starting to fall behind my friends' scores.
Keep on eye on this feature Americans, it sounded really stupid to me at first, but then I played the first beta game, and I was on all night. It's way more fun than you'd think it would be.

I dunno...... I refuse to have to pay microsoft to be able to enjoy online gaming. 3 years of playing online would cost me $150 in addition to the cost of the xbox 360. At least online gaming is free on Nintendo and Playstation. I don't get it, I already pay every month for high speed internet and now I have to pay an additional cost to utilize it.... seems kinda like a ripoff.............
But if the primetime games service offers something that is super duper spectacular or some experience that I couldn't get from my PC, then maybe it's worth it.

but in the end, the PS3 and Wii become cheaper. You will probably have the xbox 360 for at least 5 years so that is $50 x 5 for $250 of additional cost on top of the price of the xbox 360. That's expensive. But if you are wiling to pay as almost all xbox 360 owners are, then more power to you. I'm more of the type who only wants to pay once for something.

So how's all that "never ending" bag of chips treating you, Chamelean?
How about that "Can't ever finish it, even if you tried" apple sauce? That good huh?
Must be great to have a car that never needs any form of refillable power. Or have insurance for life. I've heard Geico is doing wonders with that policy.

But you see, people who are paying for XBL service are doing it cause they like the service. I mean if they wanted to, yes they can play on the PC for free(Cept for WoW, that is just crack cocaine) But they don't want to. Is it because they have more fun doing party chats? Playing video games they prefer over other systems? Or the ease of just connecting and going online and being a part of a huge community for a reason(That one is a weak answer but you know what I mean.)
Who Knows?
All we do know is that people are still paying for this service, so people must not really care.

If paying $50 a year gave the Wii a decent online system, I'd gladly pay it.
What the Wii has at the moment is a joke, and you can't even begin to compare it to Xbox Live.
PSN on the otherhand is a little more comparable, but in all fairness, it's only where it is by slowly copying XBL features, and it's still not as good a service. And as long as Microsoft can keep offering us new things like this to keep them ahead of the game, there's not much problem.
It's still cheaper than *half* a year of an MMO.

So has anybody won anything yet or do they do like 1 prize at the end of the month for the highest score or something?
Or do you just have to beat your fellow contestants to win?

Answers from someone in the beta
1. No prizes are awarded in the beta, so don't finally get in the Mob beat the one and think your walking away with a new arcade game. There is a draw at the end where the amount of times you play gives you more entries but that's it, it was funny seeing people take the money for the first couple days until they realized this and now everyone plays till they lose lol. Oh yeah they do send your email notifications that you won a prize even though you really didn't so don't be fooled
2. Krypto, that is a possibility however your rated on SPEED and correct answers so therefore unless your super fingers your not gonna do that well using that method. If your the one I suppose you could but the timer still counts down pretty fast plus you can only be the one once per season (Pretty much a year) so if you need some help that bad you might as well use it because it will be your only chance. As for the mob you could use it then too however the one could just choose to take the money and all the right answers in the world wont help you then its all chance really
3. Since some people seem to still have their reservations everything in the game is free. It's run off ads so therefore they'll take breaks every once and awhile and you'll see an Xbox ad or commercial or something, I even saw a UFC commercial with GSP which was cool. The ads aren't even that annoying as they seem less frequent then real commercials and also the game puts you in a party of four when you join so you can still chat throughout the ads and or mash Y button furiously which Im sure you guys will learn about soon enough :)
