Get wowed by gorgeous video game inspired paintings
DeviantART power user, Orioto, has been creating beautiful video game pieces for quite some time (you may have even seen some of his work on Joystiq) and his latest is no exception. Posted a few days ago, Orioto showcases Nintendo's famed heroine, Samus Aran, against a collection of deadly Metroids. The piece, much like his previous work, is stunning. For gamers with blank walls and deep pockets, Orioto also accepts commissions. Now excuse us while we get our art on ... this paint-by-numbers isn't going to finish itself!

I so wish I could afford to hire this guy to do the sprites for the XNA game I am working on.
Michelobius @ May 20th 2009 2:58AM
His prices seem reasonable for such high quality work. You should contact him and see what he could do. Good art can go a long way and if you're serious about the game, budget for it.

Well, you might wanna think twice about that considering almost all the "sprites" in his wallpapers are illustrations taken from other sources. See Samus and the metroids in the above picture for example, they're official nintendo art. Same for almost all other background elements in his pictures. It's called matte painting, it's a valid technique, but for a game you want original material.

Looks like it'd make an awesome 1000 piece puzzle.

Wow way to totally steal this lifehacker ( http://lifehacker.com/5255405/absolutely-amazing-video-game-remake-wallpapers-take-two ) article Xen. My respect for joystiq just went down a couple of notches.

stealing it would be if it was a word for word copy of the other blog post. You're allowed to write on the same subject matter you idiot.
