I guess the big heads at Nintendo never revolutionized shit !!

I have been saying this, ever since the Wii hit the market, and every time someone decides to try and say how revolutionary the Wii is; what a joke !!

Oh and remember how all the Nintendo minions were losing their their minds, and calling Microsoft a bunch of copiers, when the rumor surfaced that Microsoft could possibly be releasing a motion controller ??

Well I guess a very smug, "I told ya so", is in order here, so >>>>>>>>>>> I TOLD YA SO !!

Oh ya and for the record I am dead against Microsoft releasing any type of motion controller bullshit.....PERIOD !!

I suppose you could say that anything not exactly one uses the plural form, like one and a half steps, one and a half years.

But I'm with you anyway. "Years ago," geez. I was expecting it to predate the wiimote.

It might have been copyrighted in 2003, but the XWand program goes back to 2002. There is a video at the bottom of this page.

FYI typically patent applications aren't published (made available to the public) until 18 months after they're filed. So generally any patent application you're reading off of the USPTO web site is going to be at least 18 months old.

This patent application was published exactly 18 months after it was filed, although it relates back to a patent that was filed June 6, 2007.

Microsoft have an entire R&D group devoted to developing these sorts of technologies. New interactivity paradigms and stuff. Multi-touch tables and things. The tech's been around for years and years, true, but it's now probably getting to the point that it's actually practical (in both a monetary and technological sense) to see it in consumer-level devices.
