New Sims 3 trailer treks into our hearts
24
The Sims 3 has quite a marketing push behind it for a game expected to sell more copies in its lifetime than there are digits in Pi. The upcoming sequel to the best-selling PC title is poised to attack store shelves on June 2 and honestly, we can't wait. In this video (showing off the game's movie-making magic), our Simlish-speaking pals show off their creativity in a hilarious Star Trek parody. If you thought J.J. Abrams knew pacing, drama and action ... Maxis is going to blow the brains out of the back of your skull.

Okay seriously, how many of you regularly play the Sims?

That seems a slightly unfair question. There aren't many games people play regularly, usually only MMO's or online shooters, maybe a couple of other types.
A better question would be how many people here played Sims? My guess is freaking millions.

I play the Sims. It's a little boring at times but I often find myself playing for hours without realizing it. I just wish the gameplay was more active but I like to see what the characters do and I like building houses.
I'm looking forward to the Sims 3 once I get a new computer. I'm looking forward to the expansion packs as well (But not the stuff packs or micropayment stuff. That's just extra graphics.)

I don't see how it was an unfair question seeing how the Sims is the best selling game of all time. My question was fair and more importantly, it was inquisitive. I'm just curious how many people regularly play "house" on their PCs.

Played the Sims 3 last night (yarrrrr matey). Same old stuff, at least until you zoom out and realise you have the whole town.
Though you had that anyway with all the expansion packs in Sim2, shops and that. Got tired of this game (after MANY hours play) about 3 years ago, and this one isn't going to rekindle the fire.

It could have done without the gibberish translation to the Sim's native language and the "drama".

I hate people that comment and always ask "Who plays the Sims?". It's obvious a hell of a lot of people play the Sims, it is one of the most popular game franchises of all time after all. Just because it's not "hardcore" doesn't mean it is any less good. A lot of people really love simulation games, get used to it.
I personally play all kinds of games, MMOs, FPS, RPGs, etc., and I really love the Sims. I will also be purchasing the Sims 3 on June 2nd. So yeah.

I'm playing it right now, and it's a pretty good step over Sims 2. The gameplay is smooth (and fluent) and everything is a bit easier to control. And it has a lot of options- almost overwhelming.
Plan on buying it on release day.

Uh-oh. I mean, I "borrowed" it from Will Wright. Don't worry, I'll return it.
*I'm going to buy it anyways, I just wanted to try it :D *

Those were horrible sims. Here's hoping the modding community can fix the terrible design choices of EA.

its a great game, maybe it woz my friends copy but the graphic havent really improved, and the men always look really feminin. but its still the same sims which i actually have missed for a longtime (havent played sims in a while). and they shit they say with those picture speech bubble cracks me up.
also being flirty with every single person in the whole sims world.
(tip : when u choose ur triats, chosse daredevil as one of them because if u do the alot of the options have "extreme" in front of them like "extreme sleep until extremly full of energy" gives u lolz for a bit.

Okay, here's a better question:
Why doesn't it look any better than Sims 2?

So 99.99999% of the people who actually play games like The Sims can run it?

Oh, welcome to modern gaming. We can scale back the quality of the graphics to support a wide range of hardware capabilities. This means we can also push the quality higher for users with more powerful computers. Even some of the most casual gamers can appreciate good graphics, and may even come to expect them from a sequel to a game that's been out for several years.
The more you know.

Yes. Yes I did.
Also, better graphics doesn't always mean equally longer load times.
