So now we get all the posts on how this is just vaporware because they aren't at E3 right?

It would make more sense for them to appear here than at GDC like they did, considering E3 is more consumer-oriented.

Everyone knows this is just vaporware otherwise it would have been shown at E3.

One of two things has happened here:

Either the avatar has reverted back to Paper Mario (which is all I see) or that was intended for Chris D above you who gets more comments on his avatar than anyone in the history of the 'Stiq.

Right. Because gamefly gives you access to all the hottest games.... while you wait 3 weeks for them to send one.

3 weeks? not even. Turn around is normally less than a week. OnLive would better, but Gamefly has one tiny little thing in its favor.

Its actually avaliable. Like, right now. And doesnt face the massive technical issues that OnLive does.

OnLive will put Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony completely out of business. Windows will topple, computers will become a thing of the past.

Long live OnLive!

It has to actually exist first.

Microsoft demonstrated something exremely similar to it a few years back, but said the technology just wasn't there for it yet. Chances are they're working on something along the same lines for the next Xbox.

But as for this.. I think we have another Phantom on our hands.

I have no faith in this project. I favor competitive, execution-heavy fighting games, or competitive online FPS like Halo. ANY input delay is too much. Perhaps in 10 years this approach will be more viable, but as of today I just don't see it working.

Did you know that every single game has input delay?

But, I know what you mean about an abundance of input delay with this product. This could be good for someone like me who would like to play certain PC games but only has two macs, netbook and a PC at the office. Regardless of how good the service is I'll still use consoles for the majority of my gaming needs.

I don't know how the company intend to make the service avaliable for the public, but there's not many options to make this without being considered a "retail plataform". Leasing, pehaps?

But like some said, this is too ambitious. I don't think everything promissed will be avaliable at the start of the system. Probably we'll see a very limited OnLive for months.

So how come you guys think this is vaporware considering that companies as big as EA and others are supporting them and commenting on how well it actually works? Do you guys know something EA doesnt and your somehow smarter then the major developers? Yeah i didnt think so.

Henry E. - they arent even the same types of products and they dont even work anywhere near close to how onlive works. Im not saying it will succeed but everyone acts like they know it wont work right. All im saying is i dont think it will work badly like others assume because of who is supporting the system. It costs a ton of money to invest in a product like this and when large companies do it they have seen it in action before investing Im sure. People just make blind comments based on what they think instead of thinking the whole thing through with the facts.

You assume EA has invested a lot of money. But there's no evidence to back that up.

Perhaps you remember 3DO? EA backed that, despite it making no sense.

My point is that big companies jump on these things all the time if there is a significant hype to it. Big publishers have backed up failed products in the past and the fact that OnLive has a few big publishers' support doesn't necessary mean it will work or do well.

1. I was kidding when I said it's vaporware because of what Good Ole Duke had previously stated.

2. Until we get a working product in our hands or get to see it in action it's pretty much vaporware because it doesn't really exist yet.

3. This is just another platform for game companies to reach consumers. If it does what it says why wouldn't EA offer it's games on the service? You act like they are supporting it 100% with new content and exclusive DLC.

4. Don't be so sensitive.

Thats nothing but a propoganda arm for On Live. Talks of smashing the fascist for gaming Eutopia are wholly without merit.

Let's see the damn thing work in action before we assume it's going to change the industry.

It's so trendy to be skeptical of this. I'd rather see it in action and make an informed opinion down the road. You have to admit the concept is interesting.

Well, this news is not surprising. OnLive is not going to happen.

I find it funny that OnLive has been in development for SEVEN years (that fact is on their website) and they don't have ONE exclusive title in development! Sure, they have a dozen PC ports of playing on it... but they haven't been able to convince ONE developer to create and exclusive title. Nowadays, a console is in part defined by it's exclusives, and OnLive hasn't been able to generate one.
