The game was listed among Warner Bros' E3 debut titles and is reportedly named The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest. Okay, so an LOTR game starring Aragorn. That could be really aweso ... oh, wait, what's this?
Shacknews states the game "is the first Lord of the Rings videogame created specifically for kids and their families" and features "accessible gameplay set in a friendly, colorful rendition of Middle-Earth." Oh dear.

Waited 4 movies and Gambit shows up for what, 15 mins? I dare say he had even less screen time than Venom. And I am so not getting started on what they did to Deadpool.
As for the movie itself, I can't help but feel that someone was trying to write a Wolverine fanfic without much sense who Wolverine is

All they did to was mess up a name. They just named the guy Deadpool instead of Weapon XI. It's actually a different actor and everything, and they never actually say that it was Wade Wilson who they made into "Deadpool", it's just us geeks that assume and get angry.

Logan said in the movie, "Wade, is that you? I see they finally found a way to shut you up."
Unambiguously Deadpool.

Before reading the article, I thought that Joystiq had a man crush on Aragorn. Now that I am finished reading the article, I realized that Joystiq does have a man crush on Aragorn.

Brutally slaughtering Orcs and Uruk-hai whilst battling inner demons of being the last heir to a throne and also the last of his kind doesn't really ring 'family-friendly' to me.

And the casual game plague takes yet another victim. Luckily for us it was just LOTR and not an established game franchise.

There's not even going to be any combat. It's just going to center around the love story of Arwen and Aragorn. You will use the Will Remote and Nunchuck to simulate the gentle, subtle rubbing of Arwen's cheeks as she cries every 5 seconds.

I could totally picture a Hobbit game with things going on around in the Shire being a good game for kids. But Aragorn?!? His world is gritty, hard, and full of fighting and death. The only thing they could do is ruin his image.

I'm going to wait until I see screen shots or a trailer before I make any comments. I don't mind if they make it kid/family friendly as long as they don't destroy the Lord of the Rings kingdom/world and make up a crappy story. I'm a huge fan of the books and the movie.

@JRM: They didn't 'kill' HD-DVD. They turned off the life-support that was dragging out its slow, unseemly and inevitable death over years... but yes, as a result of a widely publicized bribe they received.
regardless that clearly has no connection whatsoever to this decision... which... well...
@this game: what the ****? I mean I liked the picture at the top, ha ha, very funny joystiq, aragorn is so dreamy... wait wtf this is an actual children's game? with aragorn? and a 'friendly' middle earth? how did they arrange that, is it set 10 years after the events of the film with nothing happening?
If you want a franchise for kids - well I'm pretty sure Warner already have loads of them.
so anyway. this IS a joke right? it's not april 1st though... I didn't read the source site but do they often post stories like that? ...wait, was the source site the onion?

In a land filled with evil Uruk Hai, Ring Wraiths and all other foul sorts, Aragorn sets out to vanquish evil. As he left home, his mother gave him his greatest piece of advice, advice he never forgot. "Dear, remember to kill them with kindness. And remember your coat or you'll catch a death of cold. And get a haircut, you look like a bum."

That kind of already exists in MMO form (i.e. - Lord of the Rings Online).

If they make LOTR:Offline then that'd be perfect.. and it sounds like it fits the bill.
Or they could make something more kiddy, like the Hobbit game. That was a fun little game, though of couse the Hobbit is much more kid friendly than Aragorn.
They should do Lego: LOTR and LOTR Hero - Elfish Lute songs of middle earth.

They should just make this game like the old point and click adventure games like King's Quest, Conquest of the Long Bow, Space Quest, etc. I'd buy it.

Heresy, Absolute and pure Heresy. I don't care who you are or what you try to tell me. This is not in the least a representative of the books, "kid and family friendly" isn't LOTR, it's gold digging. If there are good reviews for this game (I doubt it, honestly most reviewers will probably have the same views) I'm going to cry. This just shames me, especially after the screenshots. They'd have been better off, and a lot safer, for just making this a random concept. "Aragorn's 'kid friendly' Quest" Who do they think they are going to get to buy that shit?! Warner is just fucking screwed up. That said, I hope we see a new LOTR game come out soon, one that's done correctly. LOTR Conquest's was a let down, though it is a great multiplayer game.
