BioShock 2's Big Daddy revealed on GamePro cover

GamePro is promising that its upcoming July issue will blow the doors off of the sequel to 2K's undersea shooter, BioShock. Of course, by the time it hits newsstands, you'll probably be full to the gills with all the the BioShock 2 details you can handle -- we're sure to hear a ton about the game during E3.

Fortunately, GamePro recently offered a delicious morsel to its potential readers, uploading the Big Daddy-infused cover of the upcoming issue to the mag's online edition. You can check out the full cover -- and the design for BioShock 2's diving suit-wearing protagonist -- after the break. As a point of reference, here's the original Big Daddy. Has anyone asked the question:

If the game is set 10 years after the first one, how can you be the first Big Daddy? Or am I not up to date?

well lets put it like this theres a movie about a guy with an older brother but they never show him in the movie. the sequel is about the older brother but the little brother is still in the movie. and since hes the first born hes still the first even though his brother is still walking around. its kinda like that just because he wasn't in the first one doesn't mean he never existed.

From what I've heard you ARE the first big daddy but awaken after the events of the first game. Go check the 10 minute interview (i remember them answering that question)

And I don't get people who buy magazines for this kind of information. Just wait for the game to be released and read some review that sums up what's good and bad!
Why would you spoil yourself by reading a magazine such as GamePro? Half of the fun and enjoyment of a game is the unexpected, the not knowing what will happen next.

I did not want a sequel to the amazing story that Bioshock is. and I totally thought this sequel was milking the franchise, but lately I've been thinking, the gameplay is already great (since it's the same as Bioshock 1 plus a little more) and if they can come up with a great nice story to match it, it could be an actually good game, probably NOT better than the first one, but it can still be a nice entertaining experience.

God damn. I really need to go back and finish Bioshock. I keep reading spoilers and then I hate myself.

How many hours does the game take to beat? I've got about 5 hours logged on it.

If your counting the hours it doesn't sound like your enjoying it...Don't rush through it, you've got plenty of time...

I'm really not counting the hours (I promise) I'm just giving a pretty rough estimate. And I do feel like I'm going through it slow, because I have been taking my time and enjoying the scenery; I'm taking quite a bit of time with the journal entries and all of the fun posters on the walls. I'm just curious about a rough frame of time is for it. I've been getting a lot of different results from my internet searches.

I'd be an estimation beacuse I played it so long ago but I bet it took anywhere from 8-12 hours. That's the best I can do...

I finished it in 3 days. 4 hours or so a day, times 3, makes for 12 lol. But I was slow, you could prolly go faster if you wished.

If we knew what part you were at we could give you a better guess.

I could easily see the first big daddy having a rosie like helmet. the design on the cover is just like... what? also his tank? theres a blue and red canisters... for hp and eve?

Don't like it at all, really. And how is this the prototype Big Daddy when Bioshock 2 is set after Bioshock? I guess it could still be around, just hanging in a broom closet or whatever.

I don't like the design or the pretense.

I don't like that design. I think the traditional Big Daddy looks a lot cooler.

But it's an FPS, so it's not like I'll be looking at anything other than its hands. It could just not have a character design at all. :P
