Blur trailer races into clear view
Announced by Activision on Tuesday, Blur -- the latest racer from PGR dev Bizarre Creations -- can be considered officially teased with the release of a brief (but certainly not blurry) first look at it in motion. The teaser appears specifically tailored to elicit the exact reaction we had when viewing it for the first time; that is, "Wow, it looks like PGR," followed by, "Whoa, what was that crazy blast?"
We know, of course, that it's the effect produced by one of the many Mario Kart-style power-ups intended to make Blur stand out from other current-gen auto racers. It looks a little out of place in the context of the trailer, but we'll save our "spiffy / goofy" verdict until we see some actual gameplay. What do you think?

Electrifying...
dariste1 @ May 21st 2009 8:23AM
I think it's supposed to make you think it's a serious trailer like a new PGR, but then make you go WTF? when the car flies.
Ghen @ May 21st 2009 8:26AM
I'd love to have a more serious mario kart clone. The blue shell makes MK worthless.
RagnarokSam @ May 21st 2009 9:26AM
to each their own opinion...
BlaqueBeird @ May 21st 2009 10:01AM
Sounds like someone's contracted a serious case of Mario Kart Syndrome.
CFH GARZA @ May 21st 2009 8:39AM

xtremeholymuffin @ May 25th 2009 11:51PM
Wow, the multi-layered appropriateness of this post 4 days ahead of time has blown my mind.
Erik Tomlinson @ May 21st 2009 9:03AM
Ugh. CG trailers are never representative of racing games, ever. The physics usually look faked (i.e. by an artist instead of math) and the graphics aren't representative of the game, so what's left? Nothing!
profeteer @ May 21st 2009 9:10AM
I try not to be closed minded, but this seems like it won't pan out well.
sweet greggo @ May 21st 2009 9:20AM
I like this idea. I'll reserve judgement until we see some actual gameplay, but the idea is solid.
Tonicboy @ May 21st 2009 9:41AM
I like the idea of a more arcade-oriented racer with weapons and power-ups (for example, it worked beautifully for WipeOut), but somehow it doesn't seem appropriate with the realistic art direction. It needs to be more futuristic or alternate-reality, so your brain can suspend disbelief properly.
webster1990 @ May 21st 2009 9:50AM
Yeah, when they announced it was like Mario Kart, I was hoping for a more stylized approach. Maybe like a Micro Machines style game set in the Geometry Wars universe.
This looks a bit......meh.
marty @ May 21st 2009 9:55AM
It's a trailer. It has nothing to do with the game. All we know is the name of the game right now.
tr1cky tpr @ May 21st 2009 10:11AM
It's called Midnight Club, fellas.
IHateBioshock @ May 21st 2009 10:18AM
Needs more Damon Albarn...
Riley @ May 21st 2009 2:17PM
I think everything needs more Damon Albarn

Can we please stop with the puns involving the game title? Thank you.
Iridium @ May 21st 2009 11:46AM
They going for the third person shooter with cars approach.
I'll pass.
Jetfire @ May 21st 2009 12:08PM
This is a poorly implemented trailor. Trailor's intent and purpose is to spark intrique. This just looks like an advertisement for an ill concieved cross-over. We'll see.
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ May 21st 2009 12:21PM
Twisted Metal anyone?
I like Arcade-ish racing games like PGR4 and Need for Speed but I like goofy racing games like Burnout even more. I never had the patience and determination needed to learn a Racing simulator, even Forza 2 required too much dedication.
Mike @ May 21st 2009 2:15PM
Twisted Metal is sooo much better than this game could hope to be. Twisted Metal had a story behind every driver, this looks like a kiddy version of Full Auto. Lets replace the serious guns and rockets with electrical puffs around the car, and throw in some care bears while we are at it!
QQ
WHEN THE FUCK IS THE NEXT TWISTED METAL GAME COMING OUT!?
xbox420king @ May 21st 2009 6:58PM
Seriously i been waiting for every for a new twisted metal game for the longest time. imagine how bad ass it would be with next gen graphics and online capabilities
Mike @ May 22nd 2009 2:56AM
xbox420king... from what I have been able to find online... there is a game studio currently working on a new PS3 version of twisted metal.
ziggen @ May 21st 2009 12:59PM
WTF I can't believe there are still lame games like this... I'm moving Zurich
ThornedVenom (of the Fidlious Clan of Wong) @ May 21st 2009 5:25PM
There will still be the same games in Zurich, but at a European price tag.
Woodmans Stroke @ May 21st 2009 1:39PM
I would prefer if they just came out with their version of PGR5. The PGR series has been my favorite racer. Next up would be Forza, then the older NASCARs (pre-06... when they started to ruin it).
Just not a big fan of the 'magical' power-ups, or shoot'em-ups. I like my racin' a bit more straightforward.
jcar302 @ May 21st 2009 3:40PM
I agree, it would of been nice to get pgr5 instead of this worthless piece of crap.
NOT ME @ May 21st 2009 2:05PM
I simply cant play a racing game that doesnt use real cars....yea that includes burnout. yea i did the crashing but not the actual racing
cafecito @ May 21st 2009 7:29PM
More urban racing. Yay.
OptimumEDGE @ May 22nd 2009 2:11AM

Quick! I need to place a bet on that Cavs-Magic game. No-one would have believed that last-second turnover, i can make a fortune!
