Australia's rating board, the OFLC, currently has a listing for "Rock Band Project 9," which it classified on April 29 of this year. We're not used to rating agencies using code terms, but it turns out that's likely what happened in this case. We got in touch with the Harmonix/MTV/EA combine and were informed by the hive mind, "We can confirm that The Beatles: Rock Band will be coming to Australia and New Zealand on September 9, 2009."
But, but ... that wasn't even our question!! So, we'll take this to mean -- without it being said -- that Project 9 is code for The Beatles: Rock Band. This wouldn't be the only oddly labeled Rock Band title on the OFLC site, as Rock Band Unplugged is simply titled Rock Band PSP.
Harmonix has been hiring like crazy -- and there are most certainly secret projects going on -- but "Project 9" will likely be all set to let us jam with Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band this autumn.
[Thanks, Andrew]

I'm not sure if most people know that the number 9 was John Lennon's lucky number and the number that was very important in his life.
Check this out, it's an interesting read:

How many rhythm games have been announced/released this year? It's sheer insanity.

I've been wondering: Just how the hell am I gonna be able to play I am the Walrus or Hey Jude? I mean, The Beatles went out and used almost every instrument imaginable in their songs, I don't see how guitar, bass, drums, and vocals are going to cover them all

"The Beatles: Rock Band. "
Time out. Didn't Harmonix make a big deal about this game not being associated with Rock Band or the Rock band name?

It was established several weeks ago that "Rock Band" is now officially part of the name, contrary to what was originally implied. Feel free to dig through the news - as much as you post, I'm sure it was simply an oversight. Time in.

Maybe that was just to make the inability to export easier to swallow. "Woah ho, hey, it's not Rock Band! Different rules!" :(
I think all they emphasised as an excuse is that it's The Beatles: Rock Band instead of Rock Band: The Beatles, so it's like.. secondary branding? *shrug*

We better get it here at the same time as everywhere else. That'd be a real nice change.

You all dont know what Rock Band 9 stands for? The song number 9 by the beatles was that song that supposedly played backwards gave clues to the whole "paul is dead" conspiracy theory. Its all a big joke (most likely) but project 9 and the 9/9/09 release date are just like the beatles. After the whole paul is dead thing happend, they started putting allusions in their album covers and what not to the idea that paul was daed Ie: sgt peppers (they're standing on a grave) Ie: Abbey road (everyone has shoes, but paul is walking in a suit barefoot like a corpse).
Its all related to the paul is dead gag!

@chuck: Getting closer to the story. The main line of Revolution #9, where John repeatedly says the line "Number 9, Number 9" throughout parts of the "song". When this part is heard backwards, it closely sounds like (with liberal interpretation) "Turn me on dead man". A line that many Paul is Dead backers said was a deliberate clue. The whole Paul is Dead theory is quite amusing to look into and includes many songs and pictures to fuel the conspiracy.
Fun stuff.
