Oops! 1 vs 100 US beta news shelved at zero hour

If you decided to sit comfortably next to your computer tonight, with a nice glass of wine waiting on 1 vs 100 US Beta information, go to bed. According to the 1 vs 100 Twitter account (verified as official by Major Nelson and in an email from Microsoft PR), the promise of news regarding a US beta for the Xbox Live Primetime game has been put on hold.

A tweet earlier today doled out the bad news: "A few more things need to be in place before we can share the good news w/you." While the update promises news on the horizon for US players, as of now, the 1 vs 100 beta is reserved solely for those lucky Canadians.

When asked for comment, the nearest American available, editor Alexander Sliwinski said, "Apparently free health care isn't enough for you people."

I'm genuinely curious as to how they managed to screw this up over the course of the 24 hour period between the time when the twitter acct promised news within 24 hours, and the time when the potential announcement got shelved.

As much as I love my Xbox 360... we ARE talking about Microsoft here.

From what I understand, it's a combination of random chance combined with your overall weekly performance in the crowd, the mob, and extended play.

Trade you access to the 1 vs 100 beta for access to Hulu.

I'd trade for Netflix...

* Cell Phone insurance.

* Cheap everything.

* Amazon.com shipments.

* Acceptable shipping costs on, well, EVERYTHING.

* No beavers.... wait, I mean the things that live in water and build dams.

This is what I would trade for the 1 vs 100 beta.

It's even harder because I'm American and I actually HAVE access on hand to this stuff, but seeing as I have a wife and kids that live in Canada, it's less practical.

Sigh.

Sometimes I purposely do really stupid and irresponsible shit and hurt myself, just so I can getz me some free treatment !!

Other times I will just go and chill in the hospital waiting room and reflect on how sweet it is to be Canadian.

Also sometimes I will just makes doctor's appointments so that I can go in and say Hi and shot the shit with my family doctor !!

This is crap. Us Yanks are always getting Canada's left-overs. It sure would be nice if we got stuff the same time they did (or even better, the Aussies).

This seems to be an awful lot of trouble for something that everyone will play once for about five minutes and never touch again.

unless of course you remember that you can win real microsoft points to buy things with on xbox live and that it costs nothing to get the game so playing = free stuff i think as long as they keep passing out the freebies everyone will play for a long time if for nothing more then to get that one game or so that they didn't feel like paying for

Do people think you will be able to win points over and over again? Microsoft isn't going to just start giving money away so easily. Most likely you will be allowed to win once a month, and that is being optimistic. Like I said, play it once, win your one allotted time, never touch it again.

i dunno about playing free for long. I was playing the extended play last night, and this goofy option popped up to "buy a season pass" for the game. Sounds like it's going to be pay to play once the beta is done.

Xav is excruciatingly hilarious. For real.

I, for one, could care less about 1vs 100. The show has since moved on, since it's cancellation, shouldn't the video game version do the same? Wheel of Fortune would of been better.

Oh well, it'll be up for us soon enough...

I've played the Canadian beta several times now... both the Extended and Live versions. the game is good, I can really see it catching on. It is going to be so cool when it starts for real, and you can actually win prizes.

The joke originally said good looking (because I am Canadian)... but one of my American compadres hilariously changed it to hideous. Cuz they are jerkfaces.
