Saint's Row 2 'Corporate Warfare' DLC coming May 28
In the world of Saint's Row 2, the Ultor Corporation isn't looking for a massive government bailout -- it has an internal "civil war" to deal with. "Corporate Warfare," the second DLC offering for THQ and Volition's open-world crime game, hits Thursday, May 28, bringing a new mission and multiplayer maps, more vehicles, expanded customization options and additional Achievements (for Xbox 360). Also: corporate warfare. Who'd have thunk?

What's with 560 points all of a sudden being cool?
MarkHawk @ May 21st 2009 3:38AM
Its better then ten bucks but no five...
Cosmo @ May 21st 2009 1:06AM
So if I'm hearing right, PS3 DLC never has additional trophies?
Averna @ May 21st 2009 2:13AM
No no, DLC does have trophies, but Saints Rows 2 doesn't have any trophies, so I guess they can get away with not putting trophies on their DLC.
Although it seems they are supporting the game, so I don't know why they haven't put trophies in.
Jeremy White @ May 21st 2009 1:09AM
There's something I've wondered: What is the ultimate decision in GTAIV vs. Saint's Row 2? I think there needs to be an official voting process because I see this still brought up in the Internet's walk of life each day. I personally prefer Saint's Row 2, but I just want an official vote to settle the debate.
Markez @ May 21st 2009 1:16AM
Despite being so similar I'd say they're just quite different games in a number of ways. I have definitely enjoyed both a great deal, but for different reasons.
Gavin @ May 21st 2009 7:30AM
I agree with Markez. SR2 is more like GTA3 than 4 in many ways (it's cartoonier, more modular, AND FULL OF GLITCHES) I think I would have enjoyed it more, for what it is, if it hadnt corrupted my _system_ profile and generally crashing on a regular basis...
DiggyStyle @ May 21st 2009 8:36AM
I enjoyed the heck out of Saints Row 2 up until the end where the mission start "bubble" is nowhere to be found (glitch). I still have the game as well as GTA 4, but I don't know if I will go back to it as nothing bothers me more than the game breaking at the finale. It is a bit glitchy but it is also hilarious compared to GTA 4.
GTA 4 tries to be much more serious and the graphics are better. I'd say the major strength of this game is the detail they put into many parts of the city. Both are great games that I poured tons of time into. The "Lost and Damned" DLC wasn't worth the purchase for me since I am terrible at driving the motorcycles.
Neuromancer @ May 21st 2009 9:54AM
In my heart Saints Row 2 is the better game. The internet can disagree with me, I don't care.
The Dark Wayne @ May 21st 2009 3:36PM
A while ago I would have said SR2, but having recently replayed GTA IV and TLAD, I'm not so sure.
SR2 had zanier over the top action, which was fun, and lots of customization that I would have enjoyed in GTA. It's story was entertaining and fun, but nothing really more than to keep you focused, which I know Mr Mcelroy's new age of game criticism would say is all that matters, but I dont agree.
GTA IV had more realistic combat, which I enjoyed and didnt have the same problem with the aim that everyone seemed to. I also very much enjoyed it's deep meaningful story, although weak at some points, TLAD was even better.
Honestly, I really really enjoy both, GTA IV might have been the winner if it kept it's epic story but added customization and a little wilder action, but I still think I have to say I prefer it, of only because it's DLC is loads better.
The Dark Wayne @ May 21st 2009 3:40PM
i agree with Diggy too, I enjoyed the city much more. For some reason I couldn't quite explain, it just seemed to be a better scale. Right? You felt like you were in a real city and the buildings were really big, where they just didnt seem quite as towering or prominent in SR2. It's one of those things I could never really nail down with words but really contributes to the feel of the game
Markez @ May 21st 2009 1:14AM
Hey Randy - Will Joystiq do some sort of review on the SR2 DLC this time around? I was really hoping you guys would have done one but it never happened. Dark Wayne filled me in that it was turrible :(
InFaMoUs1- @ May 21st 2009 1:17AM
haha I see what you did there with the word "turrible"
it's funny cause its true haha
ikiryou @ May 21st 2009 1:57AM
Ouch - turrible is right. Only one of the missions was even remotely fun & that Tera Patrick avatar was absohideous. The EDF armored car and the A10 Thunderbolt ripoff were nice, though. Here's hoping they put out something more imaginative and fulfilling for DLC round 2.
Copland @ May 21st 2009 1:25AM
Hmm, no additional trophies for the PS3 version :( ??
dylan @ May 21st 2009 1:29AM
Making things 560 points makes me think twice about buying any DLC, as I would have points left over in an awkward amount. Why not just have cash amounts? Trying to fool us into thinking we aren't spending real money? Just makes things more frustrating. That's one thing Sony definitely did better.
scooterbaga @ May 21st 2009 5:15AM
God forbid you should have points left over to apply to another purchase. What the hell were they thinking?
dylan @ May 21st 2009 5:53AM
If you walked into Best Buy and wanted a 60 dollar game and they said to you, sorry we can only take 70 dollars, but if you come back you can spend the other ten, would that upset you at all? Sure, I'll probably go back to Best Buy, but when? and for what? If you have money in a bank account, it earns you money in interest, if that money is sitting in Microsoft's bank account, it earns them interest. Sony figured out how to allow you to pay for what you buy, Microsoft didn't, how is that worth defending?
Neuromancer @ May 21st 2009 9:56AM
This problem is not new. It's a win win situation for Microsoft. Either you have points left over that you never use, in which case its free money for them, or you do use them and go over, in which case you've bought something else and still probably have points left. It's assy but what can you do.
Arcana @ May 21st 2009 1:53AM
Hm...
Joe @ May 21st 2009 2:32AM
$7? Insta-buy!
BUGz @ May 21st 2009 2:39AM
i forgot it was out! People play this game?
Neuromancer @ May 21st 2009 9:56AM
Yes and it's awesome
MarkHawk @ May 21st 2009 3:19AM
I thought it said Coopertive warfare.
Anticrawl @ May 21st 2009 4:23AM
Bah I was hoping IW was going to take a drastic departure with the series again but this time cover Corporate Warfare. But instead it's just gonna be another expansion, they haven't grown up since COD2. Awww.. I guess one day they will make me happy (in the sense a video game creates) one day.
Till then I'll be practicing my videogame hedonism with titles like Shadowrun, Red Faction: Guerilla, Farcry 2, World of Goo and this new demo I found that's a side scroll shooter which parodies Voltron with it's Kaiser Robot. Freaking awesome!
In fact if you don't go out of your way to get this kickass oldschool demo then you sirs and ma'ams sha'll be cursed by this voodoo queen http://files.filefront.com/Supercharged+Robot+Vulkaiser+Trial/;13785620;/fileinfo.html
Voododododo queen... hehehehehe... sorry I'm drunk.
Neuromancer @ May 21st 2009 9:57AM

MaRRODkez @ May 21st 2009 11:54AM
Your bananas reply embiggens us all.
MaRRODkez @ May 21st 2009 11:56AM
Or, um, I mean original comment.
carg0 @ May 21st 2009 4:40AM
sorry, but they don't get a second grab at my wallet.
the first "DLC" (or what passes for it over at Volition) was absolute garbage and i certainly won't repeat the same mistake. easily ranks up there as the worst DLC i was fooled into buying.
BUYER BEWARE.
Nobledevil @ May 21st 2009 5:44AM
lol, "non-space money"
I do like how Amazon, my favorite online place for purchases anymore, has an Xbox Live store where you can spend, you know, actual dollars and KNOW how much stuff is.
On-Topic: So more Achievements for 360 but no Trophies? If that was true that would be incredibly strange, seeing as how they'd be the same damn thing.
Snowblind @ May 21st 2009 6:03AM
Very glad they pulled a Fable on this one and listened to the complaints about the price. The first pack of DLC was great, but considering the amount it added 800 points was just far too much.
500 is the price packs like this should be. Now it's Bethesda's turn to listen.
ShadowMonkey987 @ May 21st 2009 7:02PM
why should they listen... they've brought out 3 packs of dlc that have been worth the price they were sold for (heck they even said that broken steel was worth more and still sold it for 800ms points)
once again people like you think that dlc should either be free or very cheap...
dont you think that developers have a right to charge for dlc i mean they put their time and effort into that dlc (cept for ea there dlc is just unlock codes cept in the case of dead space)
so yea i know what your gonna do your gonna downvote me and say that my opinon sucks
but its yours that sucks sure i wouldnt mind the dlc being cheaper (cept for the pitt and broken steel... operation anchorage could of been cheaper) but it isnt the developer's fault at what price they charge its microsoft that charge the dlc not the devolopers...
not everysingle piece of dlc is gonna be free...
Snowblind @ May 22nd 2009 5:55AM
I certainly don't think DLC should be free, I'm very much in favour of developers giving us more content for games like this, I think it's great. But the pricing structure needs to be fixed. The majority of the time what we get is just not worth the price.
Broken Steel may have been an exception but Operation Anchorage at the very least was in no way worth a full 800 points - which shouldn't have become the normal price for any kind of game extension.
What we end up with is a small amount of new content for more than three times the price of what it would be if it was simply released as an expansion pack, like what PC developers have been doing for years. Why are we paying so much more for it as DLC and getting a fraction of the content?
DLC nay sayers annoy me, but at the same time those who defend it to the death are even worse, you're the guys that are letting the developers rip is off so badly. Content like this should really still only cost around 400 points.. but 560 is at least reasonable. 800 most definitely was *not*.
wintermute2039 @ May 21st 2009 6:49AM
Can't understand why the PS3 version has never got trophies, bought this game ages ago and only play it sparingly... fun for a an hour or too at a time but I can't seem to engage with it long-term.. plus the driving is FECKING AWFUL, even the supercars have all the speed and grace of a damn milkfloat!
As for SR2 vs GTA4 then easily GTA4 all the way. SR2 relies a lot on gimmicky game modes (such as insurance scams and sewage trucks) that are fun the first time and then.. well, that's it. Don't get me wrong, taking your "friends" out to bowl and eat virtual food is equally lame, but at least GTA has a cracking story, plenty of sidemissions, excellent game physics, next gen graphics and an online mode that actually starts a game, without having to wait for a full room. I tried it once and only 2 other people were found, but the game just waited and waited for a full room to join... which never did, hence, I've never got toi play this game online (not that I'm missing much I doubt.
So yeah, GTA4.
Gavin @ May 21st 2009 7:40AM
I think the Physics and game play controls really do set the apart. SR2's driving just never felt as clean. I can't tell if it's how the camera follows the car or the actual car physics, but cornering just never feels right.
SR's controller layout never had exactly the layout I wanted either, which meant my 'shoot button' ended up moving when I was in a car or on foot.
It's certainly better than Mercenaries 2's worthless driving camera & controls, but then, I actually like M2's shooting better. SR2's just feels 'wet'? Soggy? I cant think of a good way to describe it -- just that enemies dont feel like they 'feel' being shot at.
westsydemafia @ May 21st 2009 8:30AM
I love Saints Row 2 but the DLC packs are something thats not even worth my money. I thought the last pack was going to be hot but it wasnt. They gave you clothing, 2 missions (TWO!) and 3 cars (that cant be customized. thanks).
The EDF car was nice, the mounted rocket launcher causes alot of trouble quick but thats the only thing I can praise about it. I forgot to mention how stupid it was to put Terra Patrick in it too. Not only did she completely fail being a voice actor, Volition failed on her model.
So I defineitly NOT buying this pack, I wouldnt care if it was 3 bucks. Its just not worth it for me unless theres another gang to kill off, more weapons and a hell of a lot of new clothing.
Storm Eagle @ May 21st 2009 9:18AM
I should probably beat the main game first before purchasing any DLC. I don't know why I stopped playing this game, it's WAY better than GTA IV imo.
Neuromancer @ May 21st 2009 9:58AM
Agreed
Deaddy @ May 21st 2009 2:27PM
I want trophies, dammit.
netviper @ May 21st 2009 6:07PM
$7 bucks for 1 mission. Are you freaking kidding me? it was bad enough paying for the first DLC for only 3 missions. What a Joke.
netviper @ May 21st 2009 6:10PM
I forgot to add, those gallery pix look NOTHING like the real game. They must be running in High Res on a PC because the XBOX looks like crap compared to those screen shots.
James @ May 25th 2009 11:45PM
Ridiculous that they can't update a game with trophies but can send out 2 expansions.
I don't know about this game, I rented it really excited but I could only get through like 4 hours before I put it down and got hooked on other games, sent it back to GF. Part of the reason was it seemed to be conflicted. The side missions were all zany shit you expected but the main mission was far from zany and I don't think tongue in cheek, but others debate that.
I hated GTA IV, I felt like it did everything wrong. They basically removed the fun of the series for grittyness. The missions were just really repetitive, the lack of checkpoints was annoying, and car driving just sucked. I'll never forget that fucking surf the wave one with that italian guy oging to take the russians out. You have to pick him up, drive to a damn truck, drive a slow ass truck across town, only to have the dumb AI run in like rambo and be shot down, and this was repeated like 10 times. Another 2-3 times because of the shitty car handling I tipped the truck over and failed the mission trying to get off the onramp on the highway. Fucking game.
vectorkrave @ Jul 21st 2009 7:07PM
well i dont hate gta 4 but i ONLY liked it for its online multiplayer wit friends but they did reall fuck up a great game just to make it shittyfancy san andreas was the shit i mean if they just took that and made a new one on ps3 only cuz of course queerbox gay60 couldnt hold the space of san andreas with good graphics but i heard that the rumor of gta san andreas being true i know if its going to happen or not i just cant tell or else im gone but ya cause i mean there making the worlds BIGGEST mistake putting a metal gear solid game on a gay60 but if there doing that then we should have the right to have L4D u know imagine how shitty the graphics r going to look on gay60 for metal gear solid how much did microsoft have to bitch and moan for that to happen but this is just my saying
