Upcoming Famitsu to cover new Metal Gear game for PlayStation system

Unsurprisingly, there's a brand new Metal Gear game coming out. No, Kojima Production's countdown isn't over yet (that's later today!). A listing at a Japanese 7-Eleven product database reveals that an upcoming issue of Famitsu PSP+PS3 will feature a brand new Metal Gear game. The magazine is scheduled to ship next week on May 30.

We're pretty certain the upcoming Kojima Productions reveal is somehow tied to this upcoming Famitsu story. Considering the game will be featured in a PlayStation-exclusive magazine makes it a pretty safe bet that the game will arrive on either PS3 or PSP. Perhaps handheld players will get a chance at a new Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops experience -- Konami indicated its interest in a sequel over two years ago.

I love seeing everyone get so worked up over kojima's teases - it's so funny! I bet that's why he does them aswell. He must enjoy many chuckles from seeing everyones thoughts and speculations.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what it all means :)

If its Zone of the Enders by some small chance, I'd be delighted, for PSP, still delighted.

If its MGS5 with is too predictable, I'd still be excited, for PSP I'd still be excited.

If its a new game, I'd be delighted, for PSP, still excited.

So basically, I'll be happy about anything Konami makes :D Exclusive or not

After this countdown, another one will start, and the weather will change. Presumably we'll get a new clue each time. Repeat a few times. The final one ends a day before E3.

For some reason I'm thinking there will be a new Metal Gear: PO. That would be a pretty big announcement for the PSP. We'll see I guess...

With all the focus Sony seems to be putting on the PSP, I think it's a good chance it'll be a new Portable Ops, which is fine by me.

It makes me so sad that I can no longer read any more joystiq articles on MGS, due to the fact that the mere mention of this game turns everyone on this site into a writhing mass of angry fanboy retards. 80% of the comments on any of these disproportionately popular threads are made by people who don't give two shits about the MGS series other than the fact that it is "exclusive" to one platform or another. It's just no longer worth it to wade through the self-righteous and utterly deluded garbage to hear what the handful of you that have actually been following the series over the years, have to say.

that is a real shame really this day an age game developers need broaden they market. also when you take into consideration on cost, that is a main reason why games go multiplatform cause making a game today isnt like how it use to be.

I like the MGS series but realistically I would not buy another system just to play that game. Yes I know there are other nice games on the PS3 but nothing that I personally would like to play. Plus right now like everyone money is tight if I can get it on my system oh well it just means I save another 60 dollars.

I don't mind games going on multi-platform, it's just that the PS3 always gets crappy ports. And it really annoys me. Because then we will see something like "360 version is better!!!" from the 360 fanboys. Also when I look at Metacritic, 95% of the multiplatform games, the 360 version gets a higher score than the PS3's. Why? >_>

I think the problem with your comment is the fact that you give Metacritic alot of credit. I rather go with my own personal experience such as renting the game or just trying out a demo since you will always get a better idea of the game thru those methods.

fact is most games that are PS3 only look better then 95% of the mutiplat games
that tells you a LOT about why PS3 gamers hate shareing

You're missing out on alot of ps3 goodness. MGO alone is worth the price of admission.

Looking forward to inFAMOUS next week. Demon's Souls looks promising; I have to re-order the Asian version after I screwed up and bought the japanese version instead that has absolutely no English, anywhere.

Rate me down if you want to, simply speculation. But if we follow the order in which MGS things go:

Metal Gear
Metal Gear: Integral
Metal Gear 2
Metal Gear 2: Substance
Metal Gear 3
Metal Gear 3: Subsistence
Metal Gear 4
Metal Gear 4: S something or other

I'm just sayin. The whole potential for the 5 to be an S, along with the in between expanded games...?

I was going to say, why all the certainty that this would be MGS5 or Portable Ops 2 and not just an expansion to MGS4 like we have seen with, I dunno, just about every MGS game ever prior to a "true" sequel coming out.

I would love a metal gear 4 S that added trophies to the core game and had new challenges. It could very well be an "S" version of MGS 4 but even that doesn't mean it won't be a PS3 exclusive.

At the rate you should have called out on the inclusion of Metal Gear 3 as well. Funny because I was well aware that this could bring about a comment such as that but decided against the inclusion of the Solid portion because 1) Less keystrokes are awesome and 2) common sense concerning the topic is even AWESOMER.

Yeah, it looks like 5 E3 the symbol for pluto then another 3. Symbol of pluto looks like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Pluto_symbol.svg. Could be a P, but I don't see them with line under it drawn out, so not sure what to think of it.

I'm still thinking, in the back of my mind, its an "S" and might be a Snatcher remake or sequel... though another Metal Gear would be frickin' sweet.

Also, may have already been said, but Charlie_Six, "Solid" in the title of Metal Gear Solid refers to the series being in 3D, not Solid Snake the character.

True it sold well, but look at all the recent flops by Konami that it has to make up for; Rock Revolution, Castlevania Judgement, Silent Hill... Actually, pretty much the rest of their game catalog is garbage.

ok so it shows E then flash 3 then flash R then flash P then BIG BOSS'S FACE !!!! and then 5 so i hope and i really hope this stays exclusive to PS3 THEN the MS Fanboys will get mad cause they can't continue the saga without a PS3. oh god it's nice to have a PS3.

i don't know much about Famitsu magazines but ... the only stuff the show in their Magazines .. is Exclusive games to the PS3 right ? .. and not games like NHL or NBA or perhaps another game that's multiplatform just stuff going to the PS3 or PSP only.

greatly appreciate it for those who fill me in on that :)
