As promised, GameTrailers premiered a new gameplay trailer for Modern Warfare 2, featuring firefights in front of a giant jet engine, a S.W.A.T. team deploying, and a guy in a parka (hooded guys are the new bald space marines!), along with a car explosion that would make the A-Team proud.

As exciting as this footage was, the ending reveals that it's just a taste of an "uncut and extended trailer" that will premiere on the game's website on May 24th. Which means that this trailer is an advertisement for a longer advertisement. We don't mind the tactic as long as the result is more gameplay footage in front of our faces.

Gonna be crap compared to Bad Company 2.

Dude are you serious? Bad Company 2 will probably be nowhere near as good as Modern Warfare 2.

So THAT was what everyone was waiting for, a 30 second trailer that didn't reveal a whole lot? Sarcastically speaking, I wet myself.

No, the one everyone is waiting for is a 2 minute trailer that will be shown during the NBA Eastern Conference Finals.

The season of teasers....

But that was a good one so far as teasers go. I'll definitely be getting this one since I've already traded in MW1. The campaign alone in the last game made for an awesome game and while the multiplayer wasn't as much fun as Gears of War 2 for me I still played it from time to time.

I stayed up late for that.... such a disappointment...and had to hear all about Heavy Rain--the most boring-looking game ever.

Have you read the preview of Heavy Rain over at IGN's ps3 section. Some good things and some "meh" things in there.

Personally it sounds like a flop in the making (but running full steam ahead on the IGN hype train). SO I guess we'll see what happens later on).

but for now the only thing I see when I think of Heavy Rain is "tech demo".

hmmmm, how does it look boring? Not enough blood? Not enough Gears or Killzone? In my many years of gaming I have grown to respect games that push boundaries and break free from the over used FPS-TPS-Gore-Marine-Space-Genre.*

Surprise, Sprinkles thinks yet another ps3 exclusive looks boring.

from the footage i've seen, it does seem a bit slow. but since it's still in development and not much has been shown, i'm saving my judgment until the game actually comes out and i get to play it to see for myself.

I hate trailers like this! I want to see "real" gameplay!

I will be buying this game for the campaign and from the looks of the trailer it is going to be just as intense. Good to see a range of new locations, I am really looking forward to this.

I remember when I first saw COD 3 demoed on a 360 at a local store. My jaw dropped and hit the floor. But now after COD 3, COD 4, COD Waw... I'm just not impressed anymore. Especially after KZ2.

The game will have a >10 hour story and the game standard online modes. If you already own a COD game, I just don't see the need for the annual update. I'm thinking this will be a rent at best.

Although the gameplay trailer was minute in scale, it was ample enough to show additions (i.e. new weapons and SF missions) to the game.

that fucking does it. this is a day one purchase in my book.

Auggghhh I'm so conflicted. It looks so awesome but deep down I know it's just more of the same. Damn advertising, I know how much I hate the multiplayer but I keep finding myself thinking " well ill just give it another shot" damn it!

Was that the same music they used in the Transformers teaser trailer? Sounded similar.

is it just me or does the graphics look just a bit better than COD4? like just a little but it's noticeable? are they using the next engine? am I losing my mind in anxiety to play that game?

did anyone notice the new weapons from the game informer article? the FAMAS and Steyr AUG were clearly visible along with a new sniper which i couldn't I.D. but my friends said it was a PSG-1. sounds interesting.

and the riot shields of course. but that's the most obvious addition. and is anyone else upset that

soap is a captain in this game and you don't play as him? which means we'll actually see him. that's two bad things in one. but i still can't wait for this game.

it seems so contradictory. They were going with the faceless voiceless protagonist, but now we know exactly what he looks and sounds like? So what the fuck was the point of having him silent in the first place? I fucking hate silent protagonists, bullshit copout if you ask me. The article also said MW2 is poised to break the bounds of storytelling again, I wasn't aware the first one had. I mean it wasn't anything great was it? Same thing as every Tom Clancy game/book/movie of the last 40 years.

it does seem strangely contradictory. but seriously, am i the only one that noticed the new weapons? my endless googling hasn't found any posts recognizing them. all i can find are rumored lists.

Looks terrible compared to the new Bad Company 2 trailer. Why doesn't
this COD series just die already, its terrible, all it is is spawn
campers everywhere firing randomly through walls and getting kills
because 1 bullet kills someone.

The Battlefield series has been around longer and does FPS way better
than this.

maybe in World at War, but domination, sabotage, search and destroy, and team tac in COD4 are way more tactical than what you described. until you get to shipment on domination where all hell breaks loose, but i digress.

The sound and design of the trailer reminds me of the transformers 2 trailer

Pause the video at about 0:16 or when the guy is jumping out the window. The statue of Christ that was in the teaser is in the top left corner.

Can't wait for this game.

i think that what I saw looks great. and while you can't see much, ii'd rather have a teaser for a teaser than a countdown for a countdown any day.

on a side note, i just bought MW1:GOTY (for ps3) off amazon for $35. I already played the single-player via gamefly, but had a lot of fun with what little multiplayer I did that I decided i'd go for it. now i just need some time to play. hopefully my daughter will start going to bed at 9 again, so i get some mature-game time. =p

My buddy keeps telling me he hears of console exclusive content (don't know what) for this game. I will be pissed if that comes true. I had to buy GTA4 for my shitty, loud ass 360 just so I can get the full experience! Console exclusive GAMES- fine, console exclusive game content- utter failure.
