SpongeBob's Truth or Square aimed squarely at you this fall
The Heavy Iron-developed game, based on the "SpongeBob's 10 Happiest Moments" DVD, features two unique new gameplay systems: first, SpongeBob can now change his shape, which means that players will have the power of a sledgehammer-shaped sponge or spatula at their disposal. In addition, a second player will be able to control Plankton and "help SpongeBob solve puzzles, unlock new pathways and defeat super-powered creatures."
The Super Mario Galaxy-style co-op seems like an excellent fit for a children's game (so that parents can help out or play along at any moment), but our favorite thing about this game, by far, is that it gives us an excuse to embed this Burger King commercial after the break.

Wow, ten years and the game's graphics are the same as they ever were

what do you expect. It's a cartoon.
The Dark Wayne @ May 22nd 2009 9:20AM
most cartoons improve. Looking at the early and modern episodes of Spongebob it's clear there was a huuuugge leap in animation and coloring quality, the same goes for lots of other cartoons like Batman Beyond, Justice League, Simpsons, etc.

what are you talking about??? those butts are the squarest I've ever seen!
slycooper_rocker (PSN SniperChameleon) @ May 22nd 2009 12:51PM
yeah, wayne's right. most cartoons drastically improve their 'look'. one big one for me was ed,edd, and eddy. compare the first few episodes to the newest ones, and you'll be amazed by the leap.

I actually agree with Wayne. Graphics look the same as "The Movie" game on PS2. Maybe they should've tried a cel-shaded approach this time?

Modern episodes of Spongebob aren't even worth mentioning. Yeah, the coloring improved and everything is sharper, but EVERY other element of the show took a hit.

Hah, Thanks for That Video at The End. It's Just Soo Funny. Especially When You See It on TV and It's NOT Nickelodeon You're Watching.

Yikes. Thanks for reminding me that I'm old, Joystiq. I hate you guys. :'(

Seriously! I actually WAS in college (sophomore) when SpongeBob premiered. When did 29 become "old?"
OrganicJerk @ May 22nd 2009 8:43AM
They should really take a lesson from those Naruto games as far as rendering. I don't particularly like Naruto but those games look pretty good and do the "cartoon game look" job right.

So when does that BK Spongebob game with the hot girls in it come out?
Rainbird @ May 22nd 2009 11:35AM
It's not Plankton, it's Patrick :-P

'a second player will be able to control Plankton and "help SpongeBob solve puzzles"' I think you mean, a second player will control Patrick. Isn't Plankton a villian?
Vaati @ May 22nd 2009 10:47AM
Plankton is indeed the villain. A tiny, misunderstood villain.
He's my favorite.

I like the DS and PSP covers the best. Why does the wii and 360 get the shaft.
Christ-ian @ May 22nd 2009 1:50PM
The DS one is truly fantastic, but I don't think the Wii looks that bad.
But speaking of getting the shaft, what's the deal with no PS3? I have a 60GB PS3, so I could always just pickup the PS2 version... but I'm still surprised they didn't just port over the 360 version.
Oh, and "Where's Gary?" is officially my favorite Rock Band DLC:
"Is that you? Are you there? 'Meow' once for yes and twice for no"

yippeeee... lol
