Look up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a Japanese role-playing game character watching you shower? Los Angeles residents have been introduced to the cast of the upcoming Square Enix powerhouse, Final Fantasy XIII, via building-sized promotional posters. The giant ads for the upcoming JRPG can be spotted on the corner of S. Figueroa Street and Olympic Boulevard in Downtown Los Angeles.
The 124ft image showcases the game's three main characters, (above-left, from left to right) Vanille, Snow and Lightning, as well as a heading that promises the game will launch in 2010 (with logos for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360). Giant video game based promotional posters in LA, huh? You'd think some kind of huge gaming event was happening in the area soon, or something.

hahaha i thought the same thing back when we saw the first images of Penelo. and it was true. whatever, just don't use her. my whole party in XII is nearly maxed, but Pene-blow is still down around level 12 or so.

She probably will be an annoying character, but that doesn't matter to me. What I care about most is when we start to see hot cosplayer girls dress up as her for comic conventions.

Lmao so the game will be released in 2010 while it`ll be released in 2009 in Japan? Does that stupid director still claims the PS3 version of the game won`t be affected by the 360 one by anyway?!

Um...how does the game not coming out until 2010 in America seem to prove to you that the 360 is delaying the release? I've seen many people making this claim, and I don't really seem to see what they're trying to get at.

Of course. We always get the JRPGs about 6-12 months after Japan.

Considering the other Final Fantasy games have taken more than a year to be released in the US after the Japanese versions, how is this the fault of the 360, especially as it's apparantly coming early next year, which would be far sooner than any previous FF game.

Believe it or not, it takes time to translate games from any other language to English. Even if they have exceptionally good native speakers of both English and Japanese working on their translation staff(IE, someone who grew up with English watching English tv, etc and having English speaking parents but went to Japanese school/university while living in Japan).
You'd still need this languistically talented person to take the time to write out the entire dialogue, translate to English, proof read the English, possibly revise the English depending upon how lame the translated dialogue turned out, possibly censor either homosexual or bisexuals into 'females', etc. If they managed to finish all the stages in 3-6 months, they'd be doing a pretty above average job. Heck, I'm in Japan right now and saw an advertisement for 'The Prosposal' coming out to theatres 10/6. Four months after its North American release and they'll only be subtitling. No voice-over work.

why don't SE move the date to Dec.12 2012, so if the world does end they can blame that for the delay.

It only kills those who hate 360, but it also makes me relief to see how Sony`s mistakes made their console this way.

Hmph, that`s true. Even though I remember they say they`ll release the game all over the world in one day just like Konami did with MGS4.
