New Damnation multiplayer trailer features acrobatic cowboys

So here it is, folks. The second game in 2009 to have an individual and somewhat unique premise with a less than flattering visual accompaniment (not to mention bland, seen-it-before looking gameplay). But hey, let's give it a fair shake -- we haven't laid our grubby, jaded mitts on the game yet, so it'd be unfair to prejudge.

What we can glean from the trailer is this: the totally sweet, Raiden-esque sword action seen in previously released clips seems to have all but left in the multiplayer-combat focused video above. In it's place? "Verticality." At least we can still flip around like most ... cowboys. That's what cowboys do, right? Right?!

You guys are too jaded. Sure, the graphics kinda suck, but the multiplayer looks like it could be really fun.

The multiplayer looks really good judging from this video. I hope it lives up to what it shows here.

Oh I remember this game now, it's the one Eurogamer gave a 3 to.

Actually it might have been Edge since I always confuse the two, but I'm definitely not confused about the score. The game looks like trash.

this game's single player looks horrible, but the multiplayer looks fun. too bad not enough people are going to buy this game for enough people to make multiplayer fun.

Is it just me or did it look like every ladder requires a wall jump to reach? Can't I just climb a ladder in peace without having to do crazy acrobatics and what not?

All kidding aside, the multiplayer looks pretty cool but I'm not really sold on this game yet. I mean there are only two games going for this whole vertical approach and that is Damnation and Dark Void.... At the moment my money is on Dark Void.

Although the multiplayer seems interesting, I find that for a game which boasts maneuverability, it doesn't look like it feels very smooth. The movement and firing is kinda choppy...

I think it would have to be more like Prince of Persia or Mirror's Edge for this to work properly.

noticed that too and I read some impressions from people that have played it. Sadly, all bad. Apparently the AI is terrible and online is very laggy. I thought the vertical levels seemed like a kewl idea tho.

Yeah, you'll notice the sentence actually continues past the phrase "The second release of 2009". I know, I get excited when reading Joystiq too, and will sometimes skip right to the end of the article to just say anything, anything at all, and that's why my past comments of "BLAAARRRGHLLL!" and "SPPPOOOOOOOOO!!!" have been downvoted into the void. But a second glance will reveal it is not actually the second release of 2009, but the STAY WITH ME the second release to have a unique premise marred by crappy graphics and bland gameplay.

That number is optimistically low.
