Hunt ghosts on your Nintendo DSi with Ghostwire
Sweden-based development studio A Different Game has been watching too much Ghost Hunters, it would seem, as the company is preparing Ghostwire, Kotaku reports. Ghostwire is a game where you use your Nintendo DSi to hunt down ghastly ghouls in real life. We're not joking; through use of the Nintendo DSi's camera, microphone, and touch-screen, players will locate ghosts in real-world locales and figure out what they need to be at peace.
Ghostwire currently has no scheduled release date.

Okay... does this connect to the Ghostbusters game at all? You know real life busting?'
MystileArmor @ May 25th 2009 11:12AM
Que?
iFester @ May 25th 2009 11:10AM
Looks like the DSi picked up the ghost of a dead hooker in that shoddy hotel room. Perhaps if you leave money she'll be at peace.
MystileArmor @ May 25th 2009 11:16AM
Well, atleast we know Ben Affleck won't be getting this.
aj @ May 25th 2009 8:45PM
Oh, that Afleck.
keroro645 @ May 25th 2009 11:15AM
Looks interesting, but why would I go buy a DSi just for this?
Sheppy (of the Fidlious Clan of Wong) @ May 25th 2009 11:19AM
That's kind of like saying "Why would I buy a car just for the hubcap?"
Simple answer, you wouldn't. Either you see the value in a system across many games or you're just not going to own the system. There hasn't been a "system seller" since Mario 64.
James @ May 25th 2009 11:50AM
What a weird thing to say... does every system have one game? I could swear I own several games for all my systems...wait, doesn't the DSi play DS games too!? GOOD GOD MAN! I think if you examine the evidence you'll find that this is not the only possible reason to buy one!
keroro645 @ May 25th 2009 11:58AM
@James
I have an NDS, I'm saying that the DSi needs more games.
I know that it can play NDS games.
LaughingTarget @ May 25th 2009 11:59AM
A more important question would be, "Why would I waste my money on this software?"
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ May 25th 2009 12:01PM
True but there is always a game or games that makes you want to buy the system for example I bought my X360 for Gears of War,Dead Rising and Banjo Kazooie. My Ps3 for Killzone 2 and Little big planet and mi Wii for Brawl,No more heroes and Super Mario Galaxy.
To be honest I would wait for the next generation of handhelds,I mean this is nice but I bought my DS lite 2 years ago and switching to a Dsi now would be a waste of money.I'll wait at least another year before even thinking of buying one.
BTW shouldn't Nintendo release the DS greatest hits by now,I always wanted to play Super Mario 64 DS.
Sly (The Cake in fact, is NOT a lie) [PSN SniperChameleon] @ May 25th 2009 12:23PM
yeah, there actually are system sellers. i bought my ps3 the day the MGS4 bundle came out. and i've been wanting a 360 for gears 2.
BigD145 @ May 25th 2009 12:37PM
@keroro Apparently, you think this is the only DSi exclusive game and there will be no others in the near future.
Phil Fauble @ May 25th 2009 1:08PM
@Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC)
I love how diverse your taste in games is...
That's pretty awesome.. not many people would put Gears of War, and Banjo Kazooie... let alone Mario Galaxy... in the same paragraph with positive things to say about all. You probably have the same issue as me! Empty wallet, lots of games. :D
And I completely agree with you when it comes to handhelds.. but .. I did get a DSi. For some reason.. just the stupid stuff you can do with the camera is insanely fun... It's a huge improvement over DS and DS Lite but it really could use some more software that uses it's hardware specifically... wait.. isn't it a little more powerful with more RAM? OH POOOP I JUST REALIZED... what more power.. and more RAM could mean! I don't know if it can display games better.. but it could load bigger things faster! which could mean bigger games... now if games could only get bigger then 128mb.. (unless they are now? I don't know.. ) anyways... a 2GB SD card is only like 10 dollars now... HEY NINTENDO ... HINNNNNNNTTT!
Wow I got of course there.. crazy.. I'm excited.. but yeah I agree with you.. but I personally thought DSi was worth it (Plus my girlfriend bought it for me for my birthday so I didn't lose any money there... gotta love girlfriends)
PSN: HinchyFC @ May 25th 2009 2:40PM
I bought my PS3 for LittleBigPlanet, if that matters. There are plenty of system sellers... sometimes a console has more than one but there are definitely titles like that more recent than Mario 64.
BigD145 @ May 25th 2009 3:16PM
There are games that are bigger than 128mb. One came out in the past month or so.
Garst @ May 25th 2009 6:22PM
You'll get a DSi and this because it's a lot cheaper than buying professional gear. You'll turn a profit much faster with this.
Jackruby1123 @ May 25th 2009 11:20AM
No, you wouldn't buy a DSi just for this, but what this tells me is that the DSi isn't just a hunk of crap. I still don't want one but this is exactly the kind of thing Nintendo needs to justify the purchase of a DSi.
MystileArmor @ May 25th 2009 11:24AM
No offense, but this software has "HUNK OF SHIT" written all over it.
BlaqueBeird @ May 25th 2009 11:30AM
It also has gimmick unique enough to attract plenty of kids written all over it.
Jackruby1123 @ May 25th 2009 11:52AM
I didn't say it was going to be good, but at least they are trying something new and not just giving us a bunch of old games with camera functionality shoe-horned in.
Adolph @ May 25th 2009 11:21AM
This is original and I like that aspect
Phil Fauble @ May 25th 2009 1:10PM
Agreed, and I think it looks neat. But I think everything original is neat... new things make me happy.
Sheppy (of the Fidlious Clan of Wong) @ May 25th 2009 11:21AM
Good idea (doesn't iPhone already have like five of these, though?) but the only question now is if they can deliver this game before Nintendo has pissed away all credibility of the storefront on clocks and calculators.
Neuromancer @ May 25th 2009 11:24AM
If you're frightened of dying and holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the Earth.
MystileArmor @ May 25th 2009 11:30AM
Is it cause of memorial day and that just everyone gets shitfaced having a good ol' beer-b-que and gets on here?
Kirby Forsythe @ May 25th 2009 11:49AM
Jacob's Ladder fuckkk yeah!
xtremeholymuffin @ May 25th 2009 12:03PM
Now I need you to just hold still for a momentCRACK
I FUCKING HATE CHIROPRACTORS MAN
Hashbrown Hunter @ May 25th 2009 11:32AM
That looks really awesome. I love portable games that can integrate into real life in a clever way. One good example was that really awesome 'mini-game' in Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops where you could obtain unique soldiers by visiting different kinds of Wi-Fi spots. Man that was awesome.
Sly (The Cake in fact, is NOT a lie) [PSN SniperChameleon] @ May 25th 2009 12:24PM
that was awesome. this looks much less awesome.
Maverick Saturn @ May 25th 2009 11:33AM
Does it allow you to communicate with them? Having a ghost as a mate could be pretty fun.
*Sneaky laugh*

for some reason i think this is cool...
LaughingTarget @ May 25th 2009 11:47AM
Cameras have been catching people pulling their own ghosts in bathrooms and frat parties for decades. This just replaces PictoChat where people would draw them and send it around to people that had no desire to see it.
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ May 25th 2009 12:05PM
Its cool until you find the same ghost patern over and over but it would be a nice trial. This is something that would be better implemented in I don't know a potential Baito Hell 2000 for the DS?
Moptimus Slime (PhilosoRaptor is the new Keyboard Cat) @ May 25th 2009 3:03PM
yeah, the only thing Im worried about is the game having pre set patterns on where ghosts appear and what their situation is
R @ May 25th 2009 1:37PM
The concept of this is a great idea for a new chapter in a game like Fatal Frame. Just needs more work done but the idea alone sounds awesome.
obo @ May 25th 2009 1:41PM
Woo! More augmented reality games!
Snowblind @ May 25th 2009 1:40PM
I really like the concept. I'm sure the novelty would wear off fast, but I guess that's why it's just a DSi game and it's the type of thing that'd be fun to play while waiting on a train or soemthing.
BPMOmega [GT,Steam] @ May 25th 2009 1:47PM
Personally, I think this is a really interesting concept. It has some potential for a very unique game. I'll be watching the progress for this.
Roto13 @ May 25th 2009 1:58PM
This is... pretty cool, really. :P
scratch @ May 25th 2009 3:04PM
i think its a very interesting and unique idea. i guess it depends on what you have to do to give the ghosts peace - how varied and interesting the tasks are. not that im going to get a dsi or this game, but it makes me happy that its out there.
Damian @ May 25th 2009 3:17PM
This looks interesting, it would be cool if you had to turn off the lights, and take pictures of the ghosts to defeat them, like that hotel game on the internet.
ecco6t9 @ May 25th 2009 4:42PM
Weird.
Jess Q. @ May 25th 2009 5:11PM
No joke, I was seriously wondering why there wasn't already a game like this just last week.
Consider it bought. Bustin' makes me feel good. :p
Lekko @ May 25th 2009 6:06PM
There are going to be a lot of haunted dicks after this game comes out.
Christopher G. @ May 26th 2009 2:48AM
That's awesome! I came up with an idea like this (but for iPhone) about a year ago. Glad to see someone doing something like this.
Unfortunately, that means I'd probably have to get a DSi.
ManekiNeko @ May 26th 2009 9:48AM
Awesome! It's just like Mattel's IAN, except you can actually see your enemies!
