Video: In Bayonetta, your middle finger is also a key

What do monsters made entirely of hair, gratuitous poses and flaming middle fingers all have in common? They can all be found in the latest trailer for Bayonetta. It seems that every time we get a brand-new glimpse of Platinum Games' action title, it always manages to up the ante on the craziness. Last time, it was all about giving dragons suplexes. Now? Our leading lady uses her flaming purple middle finger to power up her motorcycle.

But it's not all about the absurd; there's also key info on Bayonetta's story to absorb ... which is, okay, rather absurd as well. A new blonde baddie was revealed in the trailer and it looks like she'll be our heroine's main rival. Check all of it out in the clip after the break. But please, try to maintain your sanity.

Does anybody else get the feeling that this game is trying just a little too hard? No? Just me, huh? Carry on then.

No. that's what people said about DMC 1...and besides it's better then seeing a wave of fps that aren't really that different from each other.

The game is trying to be tongue-in-cheek, i think, though not so obviously as MadWorld was.

Does anyone else think she resembles Sarah Palin ... alot?

I thought she was...my mistake.

I had to crack up when I actually saw the middle finger bit. My middle finger is a key too, a key to the my girlfriend's heart! (it just had to be said)

It's like Jerry Bruckheimer and John Woo had a baby...

... complete with terrible writing!

haha Archi, from the first time I saw this character model for this game all I've been able to think is Sarah Palin and doing some Moose hunting... ya know?

I agree with you. From what I've seen and heard of the game so far, it seems a little complex and my fickle 1 cell brain just can't get through a game like that!

"Impure blood" probably means mixed somehow. If they're talking about the little girl that she catches in the clip, I doubt they're insinuating that she's no longer a virgin.

they should have make it like add a second player like 2 player so a friend can play to. i wish DMC4 had dat to.

Wow. This game looks really stupid.
And that could be a good thing.
Because at the same time it looks (possibly deceivingly-) fun.

Well that was a good little trailer.

Actually it was the first one I've seen that doesn't seem to focus on her assets so to speak.

I spy with my little eye a quicktime event. Sigh.. I guess that's inevitable these days.

She actually showed up very briefly waaaay back in the TGS trailer.

Like the logo flashed on screen or something, and then there was a quick one-second fight scene between Bayonetta and her, and then another splash screen. :P

Is there any way to doubt this is going to be an amazing game? Of course it's ridiculously over the top. That's the whole point.

the problem is it looks sooooo bad and so terribly stupid. *sigh* and I'm gonna end up playing it i'm sure. ;p I do hope it doesn't hurt his record of great games.

She can balance MY forces forces of light and dark ANY DAY.

Looks likes its trying too hard and as a result ends up gimmicky, silly, just plain stupid. We already have a game that's trying really hard and thats Brutal Legend. DO NOT WANT.

You guys forgot to mention the details we gathered from PLAY magazine this month, which to me is much more exciting than the trailer.

I also like how everyone condemns the game before it has even come out, based on some art direction and intended cheesiness.

Puh-lease! It's a two way street; if you don't like it then get off the road.

SOLD! That was awesome. She has a sexy voice. I think this game is intentionally cheesy and over the top. It looks good fun to me.

The game just looks better and better.

And in response to everyone saying it looks like it's "trying too hard," have you thought that maybe it's because of the way the trailers are edited? They do it with movie trailers all the time, where they actually edit two scenes together to make it look ENTIRELY different than it does in the final product.

So while I'm sure it's incredibly tongue-in-cheek and over the top, I'm guessing the editing just makes it seem even more so.

Off topic, but your Ichi The Killer icon brings back fond of memories of watching that film in my first year of high school.

I had to take a shower after that one.

I'd still preffer Duke nukem middle figner over this one.

Man, i just still can't come to like her character deisng, but the craszyness this game is will make me buy it!!!

This trailer just solidified my purchasing decision on this game. Sooo buying it!
