Where the Wild Things Are: on every console this year

The LinkedIn profile for Jeromy Stroh, formerly of Amaze, lists both the Wild Things game, expected in October, and an "Undisclosed Disney Project" due out in December. According to the resume of animator Sun Moon, WayForward has been working on the DS version of the game since 2007.
Unfortunately, we have yet to find any resumes or early documents that tell us if the game will be good or if it will be a by-the-numbers children's movie game.

I wouldn't expect anything other than a shit fest. The DS version, however, is developed by WayForward, so it might not blow.
Colinohyeah17 @ May 25th 2009 12:22PM
You talking about the movie or the game? The movie might be decent with Spike Jonze. As for the game, I've never expected a movie game to be outstanding so, yeah.
P.S. Nice Animal Collective pic. I love MPP...
Cesaria (seh-sare-ee-ah) @ May 25th 2009 12:29PM
No, the movie looks awesome. I love Spike Jonze. And yeah, MPP is pretty amazing. I saw them at Pitchfork Fest last year and they were awesome.

I have fond childhood memories of Where the Wild Things Are. Here's to hoping they don't butcher it too badly!
Michael Leung @ May 25th 2009 9:52AM
ALL console platforms? So, do I expect to see this on my trusty Sega Genesis? I can't wait!
(01) @ May 25th 2009 9:53AM
I really don't see the need to destroy more of my childhood memories. Please stop.
Kspraydad @ May 25th 2009 9:59AM
Wow...my fav childhood book is a movie this year AND my kids' fav childhood book is one too (CWACoM).
Odd.
Sly (The Cake in fact, is NOT a lie) [PSN SniperChameleon] @ May 25th 2009 12:45PM
It was my favorite book as a child too. That and James and the Giant Peach. odd.
Rhamsey @ May 25th 2009 10:01AM
This was my favorite book when I was a child, hell, I still love and own this and green eggs and ham. When I was student teaching, I read Where the wild things are to them. I truely do love the book.
Basicaly, if they fuck this up, I'm going through the production list and kicking all of their asses.
Sheppy (of the Fidlious Clan of Wong) @ May 25th 2009 11:50AM
This is why your Sacred Cow should have been slaughtered long ago. IF they fuck this up, the original book doesn't cease to exist. It's still there, untouched. If the movie and games are bad, they are bad on their own merits.
Sly (The Cake in fact, is NOT a lie) [PSN SniperChameleon] @ May 25th 2009 12:46PM
you should just do what i did with the 3rd matrix movie. pretend it never came out.
spacesuit105 @ May 25th 2009 10:18AM
Wow, anothef cheap materialistic movie game...
I CANT WAIT!!!
CH3BURASHKA @ May 25th 2009 10:23AM
When are we going to get the entire Dr. Seuss collection?
Jrod @ May 25th 2009 10:38AM
Am I the only one who's never even heard of "Where the Wild Things Are"?
The Monongahela Monster @ May 25th 2009 11:01AM
You should read the book. It'll only take a few minutes, even if you read really badly, and it's wonderful.
I'm betting that the movie will be full of stuff about how the kid's parents are divorced, and the mom is a struggling single mom, and the dad wants to be there for his son but just can't REACH him sometimes, and there will be swells of music to cue the Emotional Breakthroughs, and... in short, the wild things will look great, but the story will contain ALL MANNER of crap that has no business being in there.
And the games... I don't know, a game based on a movie based on a book? If somebody writes a book based on one of the games, it's possible that the resulting licensing vortex will destroy the space-time continuum.
MystileArmor @ May 25th 2009 11:18AM
Either that or Uwe Boll will rape the time space continuum to bits,... again.
Judd @ May 25th 2009 12:47PM
I don't know. The movie might actually be pretty good. Spike Jonze did Being John Malkovich and Adaptation. I think the trailer looks very interesting. http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/wherethewildthingsare/
Plus, considering we know nothing about the game, it's probably unfair to judge it yet.
nofriendo @ May 25th 2009 1:30PM
@The Monongahela Monster
who knows whats gonna be in there, but I know you wouldnt see the movie if it was another shitty computer animated feature in a saturated market, with halarious slap stick humor for kids (but throwing in adult disney jokes for the parents) crappy "will forget about in two years" film.
ill trooper @ May 26th 2009 3:15AM
Mergahlalkjfdk Monster: Remember you wrote all that when you come out of the theater crying because it was so fucking good.
MechaGamerX @ May 25th 2009 10:39AM
I'm guessing that the recent string of good movie games are about to end soon?
Baz151 @ May 25th 2009 10:59AM
What the hell is this, where did this even come from?
Frank @ May 25th 2009 11:00AM
I actually want to see this if only because James "Tony Soprano" Gandolfini voices the lead monster. Oh, the possibilities.
Phil @ May 25th 2009 11:54AM
I have enjoyed the books since I was a child. I even had a framed print of the parade on the wall of my office for years until my kids said they wanted it in their bedroom.
I really hope this won't suck.
Nicholas Muldoon @ May 25th 2009 12:35PM
People worrying this movie is gonna be bad, I want you to stop right now, pick your hand up off the keyboard, and SLAP YOURSELF IN THE FACE
THIS IS SPIKE JONZE
....
SPIKE FUCKING JONZE
The fuckin badass pimp who made Being John Malkovich and Adaptation and has poured his heart and soul into getting this film made correctly and keeping all the imagination and darkness that the children's book had. There is no way this film will be anything but fucking awesome.
BigFat @ May 25th 2009 12:40PM
The trailer to this movie is hilarious.
pure win!
i never get tired of seeing 7ft creatures do back flips off trees:)
nofriendo @ May 25th 2009 1:22PM
I liked "Three Kings" alot. I've been counting the days on this movie I cant wait to see it.
Spike Jonze and Dave Eggars got alot crap from the producers for making the movie too "dark". I'm glad they stuck to their script and told them to eff off.
garnsr @ May 25th 2009 4:45PM
Just the thought of a game linked to Spike Jonez is weird and wonderful. He won't have anything to do with it, but it's a great thought.
luther2001 @ May 26th 2009 11:55AM
I read this to my daughter quite a lot - it's one of my favourite kids books, although she's more fond of fairies and ballerinas, given the choice. I'd like to see a game (what's it going to include, a 'sailing across the sea through night and day, in and out of weeks, and almost over a year' simulator?) in a pen and ink NPR style, like the books. Would be quite fun to code.
Tim.
KatiexRawrsss @ May 26th 2009 1:06PM
this was a creepy book when i was little...and now a game?
wow. this should be one creepy game.
