During Take-Two's second quarter financial conference call, CEO Ben Feder announced that
BioShock 2 will release in Europe on Friday, October 30, while North American gamers will be returning to Rapture on Tuesday, November 3. It's worth noting that Take Two still lists the game's platforms as "TBA." Given that the previous title was released for Xbox 360, PC and (eventually) PS3, and that Take-Two enjoys making money, it's likely the game will again hit all three high-definition platforms. There is still the question as to the order in which the game will hit those platforms, though, and with
E3 looming, a timed-exclusivity announcement may be in the offing.

Funny,. 2K didnt say "eventually" PS3. so Why did Joystiq put that?
Sora @ May 26th 2009 5:16PM
First of all, it wasn't a direct quote from 2K, and secondly, they put eventually because the PS3 version came out much later.
Cosmo @ May 26th 2009 5:35PM
The PS3 version of Bioshock came out slightly over a year than the 360/PC versions.
deaftly @ May 26th 2009 5:15PM
And the holiday season of being broke is already starting to scare me

Time to sell those beanie babies on the shelf above your bed.

My fellow European brethren's let's rejoice...we get something BEFORE America!

Sabastian Chadwick McGirt @ May 26th 2009 5:59PM
I must say that is rather shocking news.
Congratulations are in order, Europe finally won one.
Tann @ May 26th 2009 6:06PM
WOOP !
ThatPCgameryouhate @ May 26th 2009 7:48PM
I'll torrent it before all of you BWAHAHAHAHAHAH.
Then I'll buy it a week later. I love Bioshock, I'll never stop giving it money (until the movie is released).
WorMzy @ May 26th 2009 5:18PM
I expect delays. Nevertheless, I'm really starting to get excited about this game. Hopefully there'll be more info revealed at E3.
Fossii @ May 26th 2009 5:29PM
Excuse me while I schedule time off work which I will no doubt have to cancel as it's delayed well into 2010
cloud858rk @ May 26th 2009 10:05PM
The demo was nothing like the game.
David @ May 26th 2009 5:46PM
I played the demo once, it was "meh", so I will probably not get this game either. No offense..
Bodachi @ May 26th 2009 6:08PM
FLAME WAR!!!
Alex @ May 26th 2009 6:06PM
This or Dead Rising 2?...
DiggyStyle @ May 26th 2009 6:23PM
Unfortunately, there is no release date for Dead Rising 2 yet... unless I missed something today. I wouldn't count on DR2 making it out this year, especially in the crowded holiday season. The first one released on August 8, 2006 which was still a few months ahead of the idiotic (IMO) holiday rush. I think DR2 will follow that success and stay away from the sequel filled hellidays.
chady @ May 26th 2009 6:09PM
What i found surprising the most was the release date. Bioshock enjoyed much of the success it did due to the fact that it released itself around the end of October when no other games came out.
With this release placing ti smack dab in the holiday season Im curious how it will fare against other well known titles
Bootleg Zani @ May 26th 2009 6:11PM
Dammit how is Europe getting this first?
Spam @ May 26th 2009 6:14PM
:O
That's my birthday!
Jinsenken @ May 26th 2009 6:19PM
Exactly 1 week before Modern Warfare 2. Bioshock was good, but really? Competing with that?
WorMzy @ May 26th 2009 7:06PM
Competing with what? Generic shooter #4621?
Jinsenken @ May 26th 2009 7:46PM
Might be generic, might not, but it's still gonna be an incredibly tough game to outsell this year.
Get@yaboy @ May 26th 2009 6:28PM
Bioshock 2 & Mondern Warefare 2 a week or so apart. "Have my secretary hold all my calls" LOL
RavenLord @ May 26th 2009 7:16PM
They need to get rid of timed exclusivity with games that are just going to eventually be multi platform anyway. Stuff like this is just stupid. They aren't doing themselves any favors by only releasing it on one platform and waiting to release the other versions a year or so later down the line. It's kind of working backwards especially in this economy you'd think that any developer and publisher would want to reach everyone and not just a select few. If there are going to be exclusives the Big 3 should stick to the developers they own and leave it at that. Third party developers and publishers who have no ties to any of the Big 3 should consider ending timed exclusivity because anyone who would have been interested in their games in the beginning will just be annoyed that A) it's advertised that their game is only available for one platform B) People will eventually forget about the game if the timed exclusivity is too long. It'll just get lost in the shuffle of any newer games coming out down the line and make their games low priority when and if they do decide to release it for another platform or platforms.
RavenLord @ May 26th 2009 7:19PM
Congrats on the earlier release! I know how it must feel to see other people enjoying something and you have to wait for longer periods to get the goods!
kentuckyfried @ May 26th 2009 7:40PM
I really hope we don't see timed exclusivity bullsh1t again. That's just being a bully, pretty much.
Then again, if they do pull that card, fine. I will be more than happy to play Modern Warefare 2 for 12 months to tie me over for Bioshock 2.
Saria the Cat @ May 26th 2009 7:43PM
DAAAAMN YOU, EUROPE!!! Taunting us with your better healthcare plans and now this?!
:(
ChuckJ @ May 26th 2009 8:10PM
Europe...better healthcare?!?!?!
LOL Are you serious? You might want to do some more research on the whole universal health care thing. And also maybe ask yourself why some people rush over here just for out health care, cuz there's is so bad. I know ours has issues, but going to universal/europe health care route is just dumb.
Saria the Cat @ May 26th 2009 8:20PM
I was wondering exactly how many minutes it would take for some fellow American to squawk loudly and attempt to instigate a political drama out of my tongue-in-cheek comment.
WELL NICE TRY BUT I WONT BE FOOLED SIR
(...But I will say that "Europe" actually consists of many countries with different healthplans, not all of which are universal).
the Sawyer family @ May 26th 2009 8:21PM
wee wee
ChuckJ @ May 26th 2009 8:56PM
Than perhaps you couldve refrained from beginning the "political drama" by your statement in the first place.
Saria the Cat @ May 26th 2009 10:41PM
It's supposed to be a joke, Chuck! :)
AwesomeTown @ May 26th 2009 8:52PM
Sigh. It looks to be another full November.
HyperActive @ May 26th 2009 10:08PM
LOL @ ChuckJ
Maybe you need to do some research before getting all defensive. The US healthcare system is one of the worst of the 1st world nations worlwide. Even poorer nations have better healthcare then the US. I also suggest you watch 'Sicko' for some comparisons.
Back on topic ... can't wait for this game!!
Magma @ May 27th 2009 12:46AM
I'm sorry but why is Europe getting this first? And don't go off and say "we never get anything first blahblah". You never get anything first because the game devs of certain games are not in YOUR country. Whatever nationality the dev team is, is who should get the game first.
Damian @ May 27th 2009 3:02AM
Because it just kills you knowing that you can only play Bioshock 2 4 DAYS AFTER OTHER PEOPLE, OH THE HORROR!!!
Magma @ May 27th 2009 3:05AM
It has nothing to do with a couple more days, it's the fact they have no reason to get it first.
CloudStrife @ May 27th 2009 6:04AM
O RLY? Rare are from the UK, try explaining why pretty much all of their games have come out in the US first. DMA Design/Rockstar North are actually based in Scotland but GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas were all released first in the US. So when people say "Europe always gets screwed", it's actually true 9 times out of 10
Storm Eagle @ May 27th 2009 9:14AM
Great. A week before Modern Warfare 2. I feel as if I'm stuck in some sort of infinite time loop of repeating game releases.......

So tell me. What happens to you in America if you don't have a job (and so no health insurance) and you get shot, stabbed etc? Ah yeah that's it, they stabilise you then tell you to fuck off and die at home.
At least in a lot of EU Countries you know that you'll be taken care of and they don't want to see your wallet first. The American system is a fucking disgrace and one of the most blatent indicators of a money over people culture.
