Agreed, a retarded idea that will only be appealing for 2 seconds. Something useful should be made from that plastic, like condoms.

EPIC FAIL!!!!

What were they thinking, how many people are going to spend $120 on one Tony Hawk game? I wonder if there will be optional regular controls and an option to buy the game alone. If not, I think this is going to sell much worse than a regular game. Hard to believe they're actually doing this.

This is pure marketing research gone awry. Neversoft and Activision are looking at Rock Band as their point of study and think that people will pay $120 for a game with a good peripheral. But the problem lies in the concept of the game, which as far as we can tell, is designed for one player in the room, and not four. The reason Rock Band is a hit is because it brings people together and gives them a variety of things to do and ways to play.

Tony Hawk Ride doesn't, and so Tony Hawk Ride, not consumers, should "prepare for the worst."

yeah i have a feeling this is going to be like playing skate it on the wii and using the balance board. I mean there not going to have you do real tricks because that would be crazy and hard because there are no trucks that give you a pop for anything. this game is going to be bad. Tony hawk Died the second Skate hit store shelves back it 07.

Anyone else seeing the absolute BAD IDEA marks all over this peripheral? We've had people injured swinging around wiimotes, but now we have a full-body device that wants you - nay, demands you - to move around? This can't possibly turn out well...

It looks like the Joystiq nation is right on this one. This should be packed in with the game for an extra $20 bucks. They are trying to turn TH into a skate boarding sim with this thing and it is a terrible idea.

Wii Balance boards sell because they are cleverly associated with the word "Fit". Replace that with "Fail" and you have this device.

I hope this syncs up with my Steel Battalion Controller so I can waste as much money as possible on relaxing.

They should at least have the good sense to make it optional for the Wii version. Given the Balance Board (and the existence of Skate It), it would be idiocy not to.

Though given Skate.'s existence on the other consoles, what hope do they have anyway?

Here's why you might want to play this instead of learning to skateboard for real:

As somebody who recently gave skateboarding a try and ended up breaking his ankle, this might be a nice alternative. But the $120 price still seems like a bit much to me. Maybe Skate/Skate 2 is good enough for now.

Still, I think it's great that they are taking a risk and trying something new. It looks like they pulled it off really well and thought out the controller a lot. Just seems gimicky right now. Maybe Shawn White will step up with a Snowboarding game. What else could that controller be used for? Dancing?

It's obvious that the game will be released with and without the skateboard.

If not, then it's bound to fail, for sure..

So let me get this straight. If you're a person who is confined to a wheelchair, but are able to use your hands. You can't play this game? Nice Tony, real nice. Asshole!

This peripheral is ridiculous, but not nearly as crazy as some of the japanese ones. Anybody remember the one for the train simulation game?

Now don'g get me wrong, the THPS games were cool............a few years ago. Then they just got repetitive and stupid. I'll tell you why they are bringing a plastic skateboard into the mix, it's because they cant do the controls any other way, they werent quick enough to do it with the right stick, an EA got in there first. lol
