David Jaffe will be roaming the halls at next week's E3. His mysterious new project, however, "absolutely" won't make an appearance. In fact, the Twisted Metal creator noted on his latest video blog that he's "not showing anything" at the big show.
Commented Jaffe, "Part of me would love to announce at E3, and so you walk into the Sony booth and bam -- there's our game." Next year, however, is another story. The Eat Sleep Play co-founder says that he "fully expects" the presumably car-heavy game to be on the show floor in 2010. Certainly no later than that.

well, he could be an egotistical, perverted lush with some warped dedication to a specific system because he's a blatant fanboy. fortunately Jaffe makes some pretty good games; so like with Itagaki, most of us are willing to overlook his shortcommings.

Oh, he is a capable fellow, that's for sure. My only problem with him is that he seems to be in some sort of an arms race with Penny Arcade to see who can be the most vulgar representative of the gaming industry while still maintaining any sort of credibility. Fuck fuck fuck for the sake of fucking saying so. Goddamn.

Dunno why you got downvoted, I agree totally. He's definitely way over the top in a lot of the stuff he says/writes and clearly has some ego issues. I'd never seen any photos of him before though and had assumed he was at least reasonably intimidating looking from the way he talked. Guess I was wrong, just another case of Internet Tough Guy syndrome here.

I can't stand him, not only does he seem like an asshole in general, but he's just another pompous game designer. Cliffy B, Jaffe, Spector, Carmack just a bunch of assholes who come up with an idea and take all the glory for an entire team of people

I love jaffe, I Read his blog all the time and I can't see where you are coming up with him having a big ego.

You guys should actually try reading his blog. Yes, he is outspoken, but the problem is sites like Joystiq generally only post his inflammatory comments so he ends up looking like an ass to anyone that just reads his comments second hand. On his blog though he posts all kinds of thoughts including complements to games on just about every platform.

And one more thing... I'm looking at the people posting here and it's a collection of some the more sarcastic smart asses on Joystiq. So doesn't bashing Jaffe seem a bit hypocritical to you guys? If all someone outside of Joystiq saw was the daily sarcastic replys you guys make here I'm sure they would think you're all asses too.

I love sarcasm. I also love lambasting people that use cheap crutches to be BOLD or EYE-CATCHING.
When I say "crutches," I don't mean the type that you walk with. I don't talk smack 'bout crippled people. Not all the time, anyway.

This could just be a smokescreen, which I pretty much believe it is. He and Sony don't wanna let the cat out of the bag so soon before THIS E3. I think the fact that he was even apart of Gametrailers' show last week (or was it the week before?) gives indication that there is strong possibility of his new game debuting at E3. Dude is getting a lot of press right now so it would make sense and I think Sony wants that UMPH at E3 with the unveiling of Jaffe's new game. Trust me...maybe. Ha.

This guy is hughley over rated!
I really don't like any of his games; they are all button mashing junk yet people act like he's Kojima or somebody!

Maybe you could argue that the God of War is a button masher, but certainly not Twisted Metal. Smart use of weapons and effective attack and escape driving is the only way to survive. Just mashing buttons won't win. And God of War is far more strategic on the higher difficulties.
In short... no.

Hmm, it may have been unfair to say TM was a button masher, i did really just aim that at GOW, but seriuosly i'm amazed by how excited everybody gets when this guy does anything...

Something is strange about this. Why would he announce that he is not going to announce something. As someone stated above it could be a smoke screen, who knows.
It's a crazy time that we are living in right now. Countdowns counting down to countdowns, teasers teasing teasers, and now announcements announcing non announcements.....
I got to go lie down.

Just a thought here, but those of you discussing developers as being pompous, annoying, or greedy people taking the credit of an entire team of people...
Have you considered that maybe, just maybe, that whenever these people are interviewed (being the lead producer of each respective game) it's because they can't interview everyone? That it's probably best to ask the person who originally thought of what a game is going to be like?
Or maybe that each interview is asking the same questions on every gaming site, resulting in the same response on every gaming site, only showing one perspective of the person's personality.
Maybe we should consider that it's us, the consumer or reader, that is placing them on such a high status that it seems like they have tried to put themselves on a pedestal.
Like someone mentioned above, forgive peoples shortcomings. Everyone does something that annoys someone else in this world.
