I actually thought the "accelerometer" in the title was supposed to be a tongue-in-cheek complement to "imagination," but then I read the article and found out that they indeed claim to have "dual accelerometers" in the piece.

So, basically, this article made my day.

Just quickly glancing at the pic, I didn't see his other hand underneath the board and got excited. A closer look crushed any and all of the excitement I had.

This is such a bad idea.

Hey, I like the skateboard arcade cabinets as much as the next guy (and there aren't a lot of THOSE guys), but I never once thought, "Hey, I'd like to OWN one of these".

Seriously. I'm waiting for the speech about "You, know I really think this will get a lot of kids interested in skating." NEWSFLASH: For the same price they could buy an actual SKATEBOARD! Besides, a gamer's willingness to engauge in physical activity only goes so far. Top Skater at least had balance bars to keep clutzes heads from going through the screen.

Actually a real skateboard is about $160 now.
Deck $50
Trucks $40
Wheels $30
Grip Tape $5
Bearings $25
Hardware $4
Bushings $6 (Because stock bushing are crap)

Sometimes you can catch a deal or prebuilt for $130-150, but them's the numbers.

Helmet and pads you're looking at another $100 on top of that. Then you gotta think medical bills because you're fat, lazy, uncoordinated, and should stick to playing video games. Just buy the game.

I was excited to see what the Tony Hawk team was going to put out after Skate crushed it and they took a year off. I'm pretty let down, as at this point I rather go actually skate it's so sim now.

Thanks for bringing logic jeepers. I really don't understand why people have to hate on peripheral based games.

Its a GAME. Its easier than real life and that's why I want to play it. I don't want to skateboard in real life due to lack of skill, lack of daylight (spent at work), lack of muscle, and lack of $$ for injury bills.

Two things:

1. This is a helluva lot easier than actual skateboarding.
2. A lot of kids that will play this game already have skateboards.

I don't think this is necessarily a bad idea, I just think it's poorly executed (judging from the video). I will admit however, it does seem a lot better than performing skateboarding tricks with a controller.

I'm still confused with this thing. So can I push off with one foot to g... no that won't work. Okay, so do I ollie with it and jum... no that might break it. How do you do a front flip on this thing? I know, how about, I stand on it while using my controller.

I don't get it. Need more input.

The idea seems novel, but i don't think it will "fly" (Hover-board joke).

Anyway i think this might be a cool idea IF it was adapted for the arcade or something.

That might be cooler, and more profitable, then asking people to pay 120 for a fancy piece of plastic!

I hope whoever shows this off at E3 breaks their leg on it, so everyone can be aware what a shitty idea this is.

Also, if I wanted to jump around I wouldn't be playing video games.

If I could balance on a skateboard, I would never have had any interest in Tony Hawk games. I would just have skateboarded.

New title suggestion: Tony Hawk's Shark Jumping.

I'm curious about the physical makeup of this device. Have they given any consideration to people who have a gaming room with carpet vs hardwood floors? Like PSN: John-Paul-Jones said above, this thing could potentially be a missle right at expensive TVs!

After watching this a second time, I've noticed so many things wrong with this video. And I feel like Josh is talking directly to me and he thinks I'm an idiot. First of all, I love how he laughs at the fact that you really could injure yourself with this peripheral. Then he talks about the "acceptance of alternate controllers for video games." Umm, aren't you forcing people to use this dangerous hunk of plastic if they want to play this game?

Oh, and I would really love to believe that the game video was of Mr. Snider pulling off those tricks and not someone who's somewhat mastered the board demoing the game.
