I meant for him. They need to think that this peripheral needs to be accessible to everyone. If little kids don't have the strength or balance to properly maneuver the skateboard, than what's the point even?

Doesn't seem like a bad idea, though it doesn't make the price tag any easier to swallow

being an ex skateboarder, I know im guna be accidentally trying to do the real tricks rather than just the suggestive motions.

this is a bad idea.

This is completely uninformative. I need to see footage of a person who knows what they're doing. I also need to see what motions the person takes to make the skater in the game do an ollie, kickflip, grab, etc. Watching some guy from USA Today shake around on the board and stumble off of it tells us absolutely nothing about how the board is supposed to be used.

Or at least a next-gen SSX. The Wii version doesn't count, and was the worst entry anyway.

It's nice to put a face to the failure.

Oh, I wouldn't be so harsh. It's very possible the concept came out of the marketing department and this guy's being forced to develop it.

Working in video games, I hear, doesn't mean you always get to do something you feel like working on...

And one day we will actually use skateboards for controls thereby arriving at back square one. Where in our attempt to emulate reality as closely as possible we find that reality itself suffices. And it only costs a couple of bucks! And we only spent billions of dollars on an industry of virtual reality to come to this reality!
So... Wii Fit anyone???

I can't wait until this disappears into oblivion so I don't have to hear about it anymore... After that video, I have lost all hope for it and I really didn't have any to begin with. I was hoping the video would show something mind blowing but it's exactly what I thought it'd be... A gimmick to replace dated gameplay...

So they strapped a Wiimote onto it and decided to charge $120?!

Why not an empty shell and BYO Wiimote?

I like his newly purchased Vans to give him "street cred". Joking aside, I hope that game ends up alot less floaty than it looks.

skateboarder of 28 years, this is a horrible idea. Tony, instead of selling out any more why don't you inspire kids to BUY a skateboard and GO GET SOME EXERCISE?

Last comment on this, I swear.

I watched the video and realized what was missing. The guy playing it isn't smiling. He isn't having fun. Peripherals should enhance the experience not detract. Wii debuted we all saw smiling people swinging swords and laughing. Guitar Hero lets us get drunk and rock out with friends. What I just saw was awkward and dangerous.

hmmm, well its a novel idea at least. and i remember tony hawks games being ok ish back in the day. havent played one for a while. But to me it seems like youl have to be a pretty big fan of the series to purchase this,

I assume you can still buy the game seprately and use the pad? if not then i dont see it doing very well. Then again, im never right so......

I wonder if there'll be an option where you can get an empty board, then strap your iPhone onto the tip (presuming you own one already), lol. That should drop the board down to $50.
