In Red Dawn, a classic film written by John Milius, ordinary American citizens are called upon to defend against a Russian invasion on American soil. In Homefront, a new THQ FPS written by John Milius, ordinary American citizens are called upon to defend against a North Korean invasion on American soil. They also take to calling themselves "The Badgers," after the local high school lacrosse team. No, no, we made that last part up.
What we're not making up is that the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC game is being developed by Kaos Studios. Its Frontlines: Fuel of War didn't exactly set the world aflame, but it was interesting enough that we're eager to see what the team can do when paired with this fresh-ish premise. The game's supposed to be at E3, so hopefully we'll be able to give you a better idea of what to expect soon.

yeah stupid USA taking Germany's lunch money.
anyway the premise is neat but the choice of North Korea is kinda dumb. they're not powerful enough to begin considering and invasion of the US. Russia would be a better choice.

Sounds interesting. I for one thought Frontlines was a great game. The scope of that game really impressed me. And as long as I can get some shots in on Kim Jong-Il, I'm all about it.

maybe the story will be like the UN or just the US places heavy sanctions or restrictions or some sort of black ops mission to disable their nukes so they attack on land in retaliation

I think you need to be on the same drugs the story writers for this were on to understood completely!
Maybe it is their olympic swimming team that attacks, having been trained this entire time to swim the Pacific ocean?

The Red Dawn film didn't make much sense either. Cubans and Mexicans apparently team up with the Soviet Russians to invade America. Paratroopers drop down and kill school teachers for no reason.

That sounds awesome, Operation Anchorage was one of my favorite parts of Fallout, and not the least because of the ridiculous amounts of stupid American pride I felt, i was literally yelling out loud in my home "DIE FUCKING COMMIES!" whenever I got into a fight, I only hope this game can bring me that level of excitement again

At least Red Dawn had a tiny chance of actually happening, unlike this. North Korea is much weaker than we give them credit for. They have to worry about the fact that they're surrounded on all sides by nations who don't like them (not even the Chinese any more, really), so as soon as they move, they get destroyed completely

Yes but if they set off a nuke the other day and it worked then they aren't totally weak. They could take one to the border with anyone and set it off and make a huge mess or everyone without even using a missile. We all know that he doesn't care if his own people live or die, so it wouldn't matter to him if part of the blast took out his citizens.

Either this is epic, like World in Conflict style, or fails hard. Js.

The USA has about 13 times the population of North Korea...how could a land invasion possibly work? Best case scenario for N. Korea is a first-strike nuking.

Sounds cool to me, you just need to blow some thing up and you get instant attention! BTW thumbs up to North Korea Nuclear Program, its time to stop the bullies.

In reality, I can't see a North Korean invasion.
Nuclear attack, yes, but even that's a stretch, since as soon as NK launches any nukes, the rest of the world will wipe them off the planet.

The Fallujah game was cancelled primarily due to American complaints, not Iraqi ones. Honestly it'd be extremely hard to cancel a game due to Iraqi complaints. Most likely, millions of Iraqis find it extremely offensive that video games could be made about the war going on outside their homes. Ironically, only American complaints are considered worthwhile. I mean, the whole point of the war is the idea that Iraqis are good people, and Americans should help them. But the reality is that most Americans don't really care much about the average Iraqi's opinion, and only listened to the American view of things when it came to the Fallujah game, amongst other issues.
Anyway, multiple films and games have already been made where the North Koreans are the villains. There was that James Bond flick where that one North Korean guy had diamonds in his face, for example. I'm sure there are South Korean films where the North Koreans are pure evil too, although the last South Korean war movie I saw about the Korean war actually portrayed both the South and North as less than perfect...

I googled John Milius, not having any idea who he was. He looks just like Walter from Big Lebowski, the weird Vietnam war veteran friend of "The Dude."

Red Faction is made by Volition, and this game is going to be made by Kaos Studios (Frontlines dev). It's kinda funny how Red Faction takes a Marxist theme of worker revolution, while this Homefront game will do the opposite.
