Access your PS3 anywhere with the Sony Aino cell phone
Sadly, the Sony Aino mobile phone isn't the fabled PSPhone, but it does support one feature from the handheld device. Using the phone, you will be able to access your PS3 via Remote Play and, because the device is 3G enabled, you won't have to rely on Wi-Fi access. Once connected, you'll be able to stream movies, images and music from your hard disk drive.
Europeans will also be able to access PlayTV, allowing them to view, pause and rewind live television, as well as setting programs to record from afar. There's no indication of whether the phone will have access to the PlayStation Network store or the friends list, but that would be the icing on an already tasty cake. Having this feature on a cell phone makes perfect sense -- hopefully this is something that will become a lot more prevalent in the future. Who knows, one day we might see a Remote Play iPhone app. We'd love that.

SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread - XBL: SoCoolCurt) @ May 28th 2009 5:19PM

Mo @ May 28th 2009 5:38PM
can you remote play your tversity content?
tung lashor @ May 28th 2009 6:01PM
You can, given a fast enough connection. Works well - probably best to turn down the quality though for best performance.
glitched @ May 28th 2009 6:48PM
thats why remote play is so awesome, because it works with tversity, playon, and ps3 media server to server all of your media, hulu, and whatever else you want to your PSP, and now your phone.
gharib.nima @ May 28th 2009 7:45PM
Guys, check out PS3 Media Server...
I changed from TVersity som versions ago
Heavytoka @ May 28th 2009 4:56PM
This would be fun to use with the PS Eye lol
zwanguy @ May 28th 2009 4:57PM
it's only available in Brazil (as far as the Americas are Concerned) and that makes me sad.....
SpaceFox @ May 28th 2009 5:17PM
That does suck. Barely anyone in Brasil can even afford a PS3. I'm Brasilian, so I should know.
Gonna look into this, maybe I can get someone to send me one of these if it's actually not a piece of ****.
JDHexen @ May 28th 2009 4:57PM
That's one bad ass looking phone.
SpaceFox @ May 28th 2009 5:18PM
OSHT, replied to the wrong post, lol.
zwanguy @ May 28th 2009 4:58PM
could replace my Blackberry...if it were available in Canada.
Yingerman @ May 28th 2009 5:00PM
Damn! How much and where do i get it?
NaeemTHM @ May 28th 2009 5:01PM
What a beautiful phone. Shame only 7 people will buy it -____-
What's the deal with Ericsson phones getting no love? The Xperia was a great phone, yet was completely over looked by the competition.
Noshino @ May 28th 2009 5:28PM
The problem with SE phones is that, at the time of their first reveal, they ARE amazing and actually do gather a hell lot of attention, but from the time of reveal to the release time, it is a hell of a long time...
SE needs to learn to reveal information not long before release time...technology, specially when it comes to the cellphone industry, goes rather fast
Levi @ May 28th 2009 6:06PM
Laggy UI, Windows Mobile, and a crazy price tag are all reasons I stopped bring excited for the xPeria. It was a damn nice looking phone, and probably great for business users, but even business types have been flocking to the iPhone.
glitched @ May 28th 2009 6:50PM
I'll be buying it. Ever since i went from SE to an HTC Fuze, i've kinda missed my SE.
This just seals the deal to go back to SE phones.
ALl of their good phones never seem to come to our shores/network providers. or your waiting forever for them to.
I wont be surprised if we cant buy this until next year.
VGSFTW @ May 28th 2009 10:35PM
SE can make all the sexy hardware they want, they'll keep failing if they keep using WinMo. They should go the Apple and Palm route and develop their own OS and hardware.
MaliceMajorE15 @ May 28th 2009 5:03PM
well im now decided on my new fone, i love remote play but i doubt we will be able to play the games on are hard drives that support it, like bionic commando re-armed
Slaziman @ May 28th 2009 5:06PM
most users have crappy upload speeds (in favor of high download speeds), any indication what your minimum upload speed must be for this to work?
iPhone Fan-less @ May 28th 2009 5:08PM
Between Joystiq and Engadget, why don't you have an iPhone or Apple blog and get all your smart remarks off these blogs? "Who knows, one day we might see a Remote Play iPhone app. We'd love that." Who knows, you may never see anything remotely to this on the iPhone, but maybe you will see it on the Zune touchscreen. I swear...Apple Fanboys...
NaeemTHM @ May 28th 2009 5:12PM
Why don't you stop being a tiny penis baby and quit complaining about everything on the internet? How are you going to ever get out of your mom's basement if all you do is bitch and moan?
Dahk @ May 28th 2009 5:23PM
They do, it's called http://www.tuaw.com.
Anyway dude, the iPhone/iPod Touch is also a gaming device. This is a gaming blog. Correlation?
dip @ May 28th 2009 5:29PM
lol, obviously a butthurt Zune owner.
Shimrra @ May 28th 2009 5:24PM
Eh...not really impressed. To me its just another device that I dont need.
Maverick Saturn @ May 28th 2009 6:29PM
Then don't buy it :/
Shimrra @ May 28th 2009 8:42PM
LOL thats what I am going to do but lets be honest this is really for the Sony fanboys so it doesnt matter what anyone says.
green11420 @ May 28th 2009 5:48PM
I hope it comes to Verizon Wireless. But it probably won't...
Donald @ May 28th 2009 6:33PM
Not a hope in hell. This particular model uses the network tech currently employed by at&t and T-Mobile (and you can import it for $$$BIG BUCKS$$$ to use on those networks).
Sony Ericsson hasn't made a phone on Verizon's network tech in six years or so.
tkAshur @ May 28th 2009 5:52PM
I could never get remote play to work on my psp...does the fact that it is a psp 1000 have anything to do with it? I heard the new models are faster...so I always kinda blamed that.
tokyostomp @ May 28th 2009 7:30PM
i have the original psp as well i tired the remote connect and it worked. you have to activate your psp or something. i forgt i tried it once and was like meh.
also didn't they reverse engineer the remote play anyways. soo this feature could potentially be on all phones
http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/20/orp-beta-released-brings-ps3-remote-play-experience-to-your-pc/
Ashitaka @ May 28th 2009 6:55PM
You first have to register your PSP in your PS3. Just search the web for a way to do it :)
iPhone Fan-less @ May 28th 2009 6:02PM
I purposely went with a Zune because I hate Mac Fanboys. I don't hate Mac's, they're ok; It's just the ego's of Fanboys. No need to worry, I found a different blog to get my news.
Maverick Saturn @ May 28th 2009 6:27PM
Sounds like a retarded theory, you chose one peice of tech over the other because of the fanboys? Dear oh dear
cknblade @ May 28th 2009 7:01PM
*Groan* I've been thinking about getting a zune, but I don't want to be grouped with all the MS fanboys flocking joystiq today...
ill trooper @ May 28th 2009 6:14PM
I wish they would just make an App for the iPhone, G1, and Pre. This feature is certainly NOT enough to make me want to switch off an iPhone.
Donald @ May 28th 2009 6:34PM
It's a proprietary Sony Ericsson OS. This is a feature phone, but not a smartphone like the G1/Pre/iPhone/BlackBerry
Levi @ May 28th 2009 6:12PM
Sounds neat for the small niche that not only has a wealth of media on their PS3 (don't know amy personally) AND has this phone.
Thing is, not like I'm a Windows Mobile fan, but Orb on WinMi has been able to do this exact same thing from your PC for years. Orb has since been ported to other mobile platforms too, like iPhone.
I think a better idea would be to have the ability to stream everything from your PC to every other device, including the PS3 and cellphone. Which I think you can do as well.
glitched @ May 28th 2009 7:09PM
It's alot more robust than you assume,
you dont need all your media on the ps3. it will give you access to all your media on your computer via ps3 media player or tversity and hulu and other streaming media via play on.
bassist @ May 28th 2009 6:15PM
Looks really cool. What OS will be on there? Cause if it's Windows Mobile, that's an absolute deal breaker. But if it has a nice interface and is actually a good phone, I might seriously consider this.
I like the fact that phone cameras start having flash now - it can actually make them useable!
