DS more popular than Paul Hogan in Australia
17
Okay, so DS hasn't really bested Paul Hogan's popularity -- as the man is an Australian legend -- but it is the fastest-selling piece of gaming hardware ever down under. Edge reports the DS, DS Lite and DSi have pulled together to sell two million units in a span of 221 weeks, the fastest any platform has managed to reach that coveted two-million milestone. Nintendo of Australia boasts that the DS has been the number one console in Australia for three years. That's just ... wow.

Well deserved...
I can see why some people are Wii haters... but the DS is a different beast. The DS library of games is amazing. It has a lot of diversity, unique games and apps (thanks to the touchscreen), tons of RPG's, platformers, japenese games.
And DS gamers don't have to deal with loading times or battery problems (14 hours with the DSi or 18 hours with the Lite).
The DS is in my opinion the handheld with the best library so far, surpassing the PSP, GB, GBA, and any other handheld.

@ Gun Barrier
1/10 of the population. Australia has some 21 million people (source: Wikipedia).

Sadly the majority or those DS's would have R4's.
They're pretty easy to find here; as in 2 doors down from Nintendo Australia's head office pretty easy to find.
