Fight Night was made for the analogue sticks. That's what made the series so superior to Knockout Kings on the Playstation.
Not saying that choice isn't good, but it felt much more satisfying to down an opponent with a controlled flick of the stick rather than pressing a button.

If i wanted to be annoyed by control schemes i would play on the wii a lot more... I play FN3 because its fun. Removing control options does not make FN4 any better or more balanced. If you want to remove it for online games only, thats fine. But to take it away for local matches as well is dumb imo

In a interview the developer said they will add a patch to have both control schemes available soon after the game it's released.

Man im worried about this game. I really suck at fighting games, but I enjoyed putting all my points into strength and only ever punching the haymaker button. Guess I'll have to get used to losing : (

Been having the demo because of my preorder. I absolutely HATE the camera! It's wobbley as fuck! The game looks gorgeous but I'm not gonna lie, UFC Undisputed is 10X more fun.

agreed. If ufc had a system of dodging punches similar to Fight Night, it would be hands down the winner.

Yeah I had FN3 when I first got my 360. I dont remember the camera being that wobbley. Its the new fighter head movement I think. I dont know but its annoying as fuck and the controls are not all that I though they would be. I doubt that I'll be buying it afterall. Get my $5 and put it on something else.

I played it last night and I thought it was pretty good except for one thing, you can't change the settings to use the face buttons anymore. I prefer the face buttons for the jabs, hooks and uppercuts.
I think it works better for the training rounds like the "simon dummy" IMO.
Now I'm not sure I want it anymore. Why the hell didn't EA just leave that in so it gives players a choice?

That's EXACTLY what I want to know. If they aren't in the game I will not be buying.

I think they got rid of that, and I just played it and the stick is a lot worse to be honest, the system in FN3 gave you some degree of control over the power of the punch, FN4 uses the stick, but it seems a lot sloppier and more difficult to do the punch you want, when you want to do it.

Hey Steve,
Have no fear, I and others have read that a patch would be available after release of the game. For the configuration of using the face buttons. :)

Ugh, I think a better pic could've been used for this news.
That said, can't wait to try the game.

I've had this for a few weeks and probably played it ten times by now. It's a lot of fun, but three rounds is horrible for a demo for a game that's supposed to be more realistic than its predecessor. The only way to even get a knockdown in three rounds is to go for an all-out slugfest... and in three rounds, the effects of that on your stamina aren't seen at all.
I really just don't get why they impose such artificial limits on sports game demos. Why not include a whole fight, or a whole game for baseball games. I mean, nobody is going to sit around and play the demo repeatedly when the actual game is available if you're locked into two teams or fighters or whatever, are they?

i love fight night but i was a bit disappointed by it (gamestop preorder) my main gripe was asides from the removal of buttons. the TPC (analog) seems worse. there is a definite lag between input and onscreen action. i wiggle for a jab, jab, straight, hook and literally sit back (not touching controller) and watch the delayed input happen on-screen. kills immersion. HOPEFULLLLYYYY EA does fix this issue
another gripe is with fanboys foaming at the mouth about the buttons. yes there are mashers but there are also skilled button players. but the fact remains the stick in round 3 was slower than pressing buttons. so i'm fairly sure that's where the hate originated. and so far with round 4. it's liable to be a re5 control flame war again. (personally i don't see why we couldn't walk whilst firing and no, not OMGZZ RUNNING IS 4 GOW, GO SUCK A XBOX DICK1!!1!!!)

I love that they took away the face buttons. it will definitely clean up the online aspect. now everyone plays it the way the game was developed to be played.
i think the demo is fantastic. i definitely wish it were longer. i have played it a half dozen times and have yet to see a knockdown.
the attention to detail is phenomenal and the physics are fantastic. the brushing off of punches and the damage done are so fluid and subtle.
cant wait for the full game
