Try living in middle america... YOU guys cry about nothing happening (except the whole DToid NARPs, Penny Arcade East, etc). Let's just say I traveled five hours just to see Nine Inch Nails....

You're closer to the west coast than we are :P And PAXEast is JUST coming to the east coast next year so that doesn't even really count. But when it comes to game conventions and then like, everything does happen on the west coast. Unless it's happening at the Nintendo Store in NYC. But have you ever been there? What a let down that place is...

This behavior always kind of irked me. Having a SSBB tournie on launch day, Street Fighter tourney launch weekend, KOF XII PRE-FUCKING-LAUNCH!
It's a great idea, really. Have people pretend they are well-practiced veterans in a game that hasn't had enough time to garner the well-practice. I understand generating hype for the game BUT wouldn't it be better to have a REAL tournament two months down the road when the hype is petering off and sales start to dwindle? Imagine if Gamestop had their SFIV tourney right now, think of how many "practice" copies they could shift....

Maybe it's so you can't exploit the little glitches and tricks in the game to give yourself an advantage in the fight. Since you have no idea how this particular game plays, you just have a basic understanding of how to control the base roster.

Probably not very many. I can't remember the last time I sold a SFIV.
