For those of you with stockpiles of canned goods and automatic weapons in an underground bunker, patiently waiting for a) the zombie apocalypse or b) a Canadian invasion we have goo ... well, we have news. You can prepare for both occurrences on your Xbox 360 by alternating between Left 4 Dead and the 1 vs 100 beta!
Wait, let us explain ...
You see, the 1 vs 100 beta has heretofore been limited to The Great Nation of Canada but, beginning June 1st (read: the day of Microsoft's press conference next Monday!), that beta will be expanded to include the US as well. You see where we're going with this: While we can't guarantee you'll be matching wits with Canadians every game, we think you'll agree that the mere potential of a mental mano-a-mano (-a-mano-a-mano-a ...) with real live Canadians presents a thrill you probably haven't experienced since firing that first round into a cardboard cutout of zombie Celine Dion.

Ha! You're going down, Canada! In your Canadian face!

I'm really anxious to try this out. Any Canada-ites out there have the opportunity?

It's great. I've been the 1 once and was in the mob every live show.
The questions are really funny, and the canadian ones were mostly related to weed culture humour like the trailer park boys.

It's a lot of fun. The few times I played I would just turn on the 360 just for trivia factor.
In response to oxymoron420, most of the trivia centred around either pop culture or canadian history, not weed humour and culture.

You don't win points during the BETA. It's been said repeatedly through the games. Sorry :(

1 vs 100 does look interesting, but the problem I have with all of this is that it took so long to get to where we're at with the game that I personally don't care anymore. Sure it'll offer cool prizes but it's nothing I'll be sprinting to see. When it comes out then I'll check it out. Until then there is no need to drool over it yet.

Is 1 vs. 100 something you have to download to participate? If it is a download, when can it be downloaded to prepare for the show on June 1?

Well, first of all, the Canadian beta ended last Sunday. I've played it a number of times, and it's ok. The extended play is a tad boring, because you're just answering questions with your friends and other players, hoping to get a good score.
The Primetime play is a bit more fun because it's hosted, though our host, Chris Cashman is a little annoying. It is funny when someone with clearly a "marijuana" related name has a high score (ha ha) and Chris has to say his name... it's caused a few laughs from me and my buddies. He's even been known to say peoples "mottos", though nothing "rude" yet.
If it does end up being ad-supported and free - then I'll participate. The chance to win free MS points it's completely worth it for a couple hours of my time each week (or however frequent the Primetime events are). But as soon as Microsoft puts a price to it, I'm out. The only exception might be a $5 price for the game, but unlimited free playing from that point on and a guarantee that at some point within a time frame I'll be picked as the One or as the Mob. Kinda like paying $5 for a guaranteed chance to win once.
Other than that, the presentation is pretty good and the gameplay is simple enough. It is disappointing that they limit groups to 4 people at a time, so if you have more than 3 friends wanting to play with you, you're out of luck. But if you're in the same "party" through Xbox Live, you can still chat and the questions are all the same, you just won't see your other friends scores.

It's sad that you can't detect sarcasm right off the bat. Come back to the internets in a year or so.
