We've been waiting on platform confirmation for 2K's upcoming BioShock 2 for some time now, and now we finally know which systems the title will release for. VG247 confirmed with 2K that the game will release "on PS3, 360 and PC on 30th October, just for the record." It should be noted that October 30 is the European release date for the game, and that it's already been confirmed for a November 3 release in North America.
With the game releasing on multiple platforms on day one, it means that PS3 enthusiasts won't miss out on the fun due to timed exclusivity this go round.
Update: We contacted 2K to clarify the statements that VG247 received, and it confirmed that a simultaneous Xbox 360, PS3 and PC release would occur in North America as well. Huzzah!

6 Breaking stories in a row.
And good. This means we don't have to worry about 1 version of the game getting some the other didn't. I hope....

A Tiger Woods game with a monthly fee is breaking news to you? Really?

#2. Yes. It's breaking to me. It's breaking my balls and it hurts very much because no one gives a good god damn about a browser based golf game.

Yeah, Joystiq you're using the breaking tag a little too freely today. I mean Jay Z limited edition DJ Hero? Tiger Woods Online? Batman getting a release date? Even the Dragon Age getting a release date is barely worthy of breaking. The sequel to one of the best games of this generations release date and platforms is worthy of a breaking news tag, the rest is just "meh".

In all fairness, Joystiq labeling it as "breaking" is completely justified. Because it's a news that has just surfaced. It hasn't been floating around the internet for the past 3 hours or whatever.

Release Dates would count as breaking, so would new games announced.

If you have both, just get it for the controller that suits you, i assure you they will look identical, so it just depends on the controller, i dont see the point in buying it for both consoles.

No doubt that one of the two will try to get something in to persuade us to buy a copy for their console...although I can't say I'm as hyped to play Bioshock 2 as I was to play the first one.
Then again maybe it's just a vanilla release this time and everyone gets the same copy :O

This isn't really all that surprising, but good news for PS3-only owners nonetheless.

I got the first one on the PC since at the time we weren't supposed to get a PS3 version. But...not sure if I want the second one on the PC. Loved the mouse control, but I always worry about the inevitable bugs on PC games. Bioshock 1 came with a lovely sound glitch wherein there wasn't any...That took a good 3 hours between tech support to fix.

I kind of know what you mean, i would like to rather explore another area instead of Rapture again, but if they can nail the story, great memorable characters(like that nut Sander Cohen), and gameplay, it will be an amazing game.

I get this, too. I enjoyed the first BioShock immensely and will look forward to the sequel, but I have my concerns about the rehash factor. BioShock 1 brought a lot of creativity and atmosphere to the table. I haven't been following every news item, I admit, yet thus far it seems like BioShock 2 is mostly covering old ground.
Familiarity is all right with some things, especially stories where you love the characters and will accept pretty much any plot excuse to spend some more time with them. Familiarity is not a friend to horror or tension, though, which could be a strike against BioShock 2.

Thank god. Timed exclusivity sucks big ass! It's unnecessary especially for developers that don't have exclusive ties to an owning company. Now when the game releases everyone can actually talk about how cool it is rather than gloat over who's system is better because Bioshock 2 is exclusive to theirs. Looking forward to it! The drill should be fun to use! LOL
