It looks nice and all (the first level footage elsewhere isn't quite as impressive as I had hoped it would be) but it's still a rail shooter. Hard for me to get excited for it, especially when there are other rail shooter games coming to Wii that look better.

'look better' as in both visually and action-wise, meaning gameplay. Saying that to avoid folks jumping down my throat going 'omg how dare you appreciate gud grafix' or some shit

They need to release this on other platforms...I had a ton of fun with Dead Space, and I want to see more about the DS Story on a next gen platform.
I have a Wii, but I don't particularly want to play a rail shooter...I want to be able to walk around and explore the creepy enviro at will.

This looks cool won't be as good as the first one though. Speaking of on rail games whatever happened to Disaster: Day of Crisis

Looks fairly good for a Wii game, but I still think the game is going to lose a lot of the tension and atmosphere by being a rail shooter. A lot of the tension with a game like Dead Space come from the player being in charge of going through the next door or around the next bend... the player determines where to look and hopes to not be looking in the wrong direction when the next moster jumps out of the shadows. All that is taken away by being on rails. You'll still get some of the "boo" scare factor, but the tension will largely be missing.

Huh, i think that would have the exact opposite effect. When you're in control, you can go when you're ready to go. This game makes you confront what's around the corner at a time when you might not be ready to
Now, if the devs suck at the art of suspense, then it will be a detriment, but, competently executed, it could surpass the original in that department.

@ Mr Khan
well i agree with you on some parts khan. while you do make a point (and a very good one at that) saying that if the devs suck at suspense then people won't get much fright. but Vidikron does have a point as well. for me what scared me alot was not knowing what was around the corner and whether or not i was prepared for the fright i was, undoubtedly, going to get. but still the fear factor can still be present should the devs master the suspense. IMO if they want to scare their audience then they should consult some MASTERS of fear and suspense.

Well, maybe different people experience it differently, but for me I can say the tension would be less. Games like Dead Space freak me out when playing them, but don't phase me in the least if I'm watching someone play. An on rails shooter falls somewhere in the middle of those two experiences. More like one of the amusement park rides where you ride around with a light gun shooting targets...half watching, half interactive.
I guess it's about immersion. When I'm fully in control it feels more like I'm there... I'm the one in danger and every choise I make, including movement, impacts my chance for survival. When I'm being carted around it feels more like an amusement park ride where I'm just waiting to shoot some pop-up targets.

man, EA, listen up - you might get a million plus sales out of this game as is. it looks like it could be fun, if it weren't on rails. you could launch this ip on wii into a big franchise i bet.
how about this though? why don't you let this ip have FPS controls as an option? where on medal of honor heroes 2, on the wii, there was an option for 'arcade' mode....this was on rails.
give us FPS controls and free roaming abilities as an option to the default on rails mode.
you add a lot more sales to the bottom line. i'd think.
you know i'm tight with the bells too, so no bells for on rails, it is not the same horror game.

Why put it on rails and ruin a great TPS. Lazy! I'll probably download it from http://thewiisource.com but I doubt I'll spend the cash.

-1 point for you for even promoting piracy even if just a tad bit. the more people start thinking like you the bigger piracy grows. the bigger it grows, the closer we come to kissing videos games bye bye. wanna play video games? purchase them! don't wanna make a worthless purchase? rent it and try the game out! i really don't see how hard it is to make a gamefly account and rent a certain video game title to see if its what you would want.
