I would think it's high time for this game to finally emerge. I remember it from E3 2006, and it seems like this is the game's last chance to really ever become anything more than a promise.

It would certainly make an excellent complement to 360's late-year lineup

Forget bout E3 2006-- they teased it in press releases when the Xbox 360 was introduced at E3 2005!!! I remember receiving the releases myself when I was working for a gaming website at the time--I didn't think it was all that back THEN, so now it looks even more bland.

Honestly--does anyone really still care about this game? How good could it possibly be?

They had better show it off at E3, cause they're delaying it so much they're gonna risk losing everyone's interest.

Alan Wake Forever!

I hope they show this game - it looked tight in 06.

If it doesn't show this E3, it's pretty much vaporware.

Can someone explain to me what the big deal around this game is supposed to be? I know people seem really excited about it but from what I looked up on the game almost nothing has been announced about it beyond the title.

Basically it's an open world (GTA like) game set in Washington state. It's supposed to be quite advanced graphically, have excellent lighting that ties into the story which is a psychological thriller/horror.

@stinger503

None of the things you said makes this game interesting. I'm by no means attacking your post, I'm attacking the game. "Open world game in Washington State" doesn't exactly rev my engines.

It's like finding out you're a superhero whose power is the ability to shake exactly TWO aspirin from a bottle every time.

If you take it in the context of "open world game in Washington state" it's like taking Halo and saying "fps in space". Add in beautiful graphics, lighting effects, and good thriller story. Then you get possibilities.

Finally! I hope they can deliver some actual gameplay footage (not that demo on youtube), mission segments, combat, puzzles or whatever. Y'know what you'll be doing in the game.

I think Alan Wake is in the running to take up the post that Duke Nukem Forever sadly vacated this month!

Damn, just took a look at that forum thread and it sure does seem as if they are confirming it without outright saying it... Never saw so many "I don't know, you'll just have to wait *wink*wink*" in a row on occasions like this... Looks like another cross in that MS E3 Bingo card hum?

Alan Wake is gonna be the 360's Shenmue. Years in develpment, and it ends up probably being pretty bland, when all is said and done.

I'm just not hyped for Alan Wake, one bit, but yet I'm strangely drawn to it...

What is so exciting about the game for me is the mere fact that it's going to be something very original. And Remedy are aiming for quality in everything in this game. That's why it's taking so long to develop. If something is not polished enough, they polish it until it shines. And it's hugely inspired by Twin Peaks, which is the best TV show to ever see the light of day.
One thing you can be sure of is that it's NOT vaporware.

God bless Twin Peaks, and David Lynch's twisted little mind. I really miss that show.

I think thats why I'm strangely drawn to this game, even though it's pretty far down my list of wanted titles. It looks very atmospheric, and unsettling.

Glad to finally hear about the game, as I thought that I saw a tiny glimmer of promise in the little information that I'd heard about the game.
