Tatsunoko vs. Capcom roster may change for North American release

GameSpot's preview for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars contains some rather troubling news about the localized version of Eighting's cross-company fighter. According to the site, "talks are ongoing," but Capcom may not have been able to secure all the rights to the Tatsunoko characters. As a result, there "may be some minor pruning done to the Tatsunoko side of the roster."

It's not all bad, though: GameSpot said that Capcom is working to keep the roster balanced for the updated version, "so any pruning done will require some addition to keep things balanced." Maybe Capcom can grab 3D models of random Capcom characters and stick the missing Tatsunoko characters' movesets in. Or maybe whoever the last holdout is on the Tatsunoko side will realize that there's really not anything else going on in North America with these characters.

I hope the G-Force characters are still in.

Not calling Gatchaman by its original name (fuck G-Force) is a being disgrace to the anime. Now go watch some Casshern Sins.

Too bad the Casshern in the game, is not the same Casshern from Casshern Sins. Not even the same voice actor. So I fail to see what watching it would do.

I was pretty sure this would happen...

Personally, I think they should contact the Christian Broadcasting Company or whoever owns the rights to Tatsunoko's "Superbook" and "The Flying House" cartoons and fill in the gaps with characters from those two shows. It wouldn't be all bad! We'd have two more robots in the roster, plus maybe Noah or the Apostle Paul or something. Imagine Mega Man and Roll vs. Noah and Giraffe.

I'd like to see them replace characters they can't get the licenses to with characters that North Americans would be more familiar with. Speed Racer and Samurai Pizza Cats plz?

Good. Add in Speed Racer and/or Racer X. They're Tatsunoko Productions's most recognizable characters, and the fact they weren't in the Japanese release is just ****ed up.

And here I expected the game to be renamed "Cartoons vs Capcom".

"Ultimate All-Stars" sounds just as putrid. What about "Xtreme Cross Over"? "Mega Charged Battle?"...no...sounds too Japanese.

"Mash-up of Heroes". Yeah...there we go.

Just call it Non-Copyrighted Characters Vs. Capcom: Super Special Awesome Battle of Super Special Awesomeness.

Why in the hell would companies not allow their licenses in the game. (rhetorical; no question mark)

I know I know, I'm just getting tired of it.

There are dozens of characters they could use for Tatsunoko's side, regardless of what ever one needs to be removed I dont see why it would be so difficult... heck I dont even see which tatsunoko characters in this game even have other videogame variations to have to cause a dispute over rights.

Just unbalance the roster and give me Dante n' some kind of Monster Hunter.

I'm surprised that this game is coming to the us at all.

Capcom always pick stupid characters like Alex, Morrigan, and roll. Why not Dante, Maximo, Ada Wong, Seig (chaos legion), Jotaro Kujo (Jojo's Bizarre adventure), the chick in P.N.03 or some of the characters from Power Stone?

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is owned by someone else, in the similar scenario about Strider Hiryu.

Which Tatsunoko license is being used a ransom right now?

Geeze how about Capcom vs Shounen Jump or something.
I like Tatsunoko vs Capcom and all, but I couldn't care less about the Tatsunoko roster.

I'm more concerned about getting the game than the roster. I'd actually like it if they tried this if they can't get the non-capcom characters...

Basically add a bunch of extra Capcom characters to the mix from all reaches of capcom history. We know they have a lot they can do. Just look at MvC2.
