Remember Madballs? You know, those little ghoul-shaped spheres of rubber you kept on your toy shelf next to the Alf doll and Ghostbusters Proton Pack. Yeah, now you remember them. Well, guess what, they're back and this time they're hitting video games.
Canadian developer Playbrains will be bringing its take on the Madballs universe, Madballs in Babo: Invasion, to Steam and Xbox Live Arcade this summer. The game is a top-down shooter with randomly generated maps, 4-player co-op and 16-player multiplayer. Check out the screens below.

How awesome is that!? I had a ton of these when I was a kid. Now all we need is some Visionaries love and I'll be happy.

I remember the cartoon, but not the toys. It was pretty gross at times, and yet I still enjoyed it somehow.

Wait wait wait....Madballs!?
I would've sooner expected a Teddy Ruxpin game. Note that I said "Expected" and not "Wanted". I've literally forgotten about those things!
With the whole monster collecting-and-trading phenomenon started with Pokemon, why didn't they just make a game based on the freakin' Garbage Pale Kids?

Other useless properties from the 80s I recommend for a game:

Food Fighters:

But on a serious note, when do we get "Chuck Norris and the Karate Commandos"?

Only after we get an XBLA game based on the Barnyard Commandos.

First, great news.
Second, I sent in a tip about this game months ago. Madballs have been back in ball form at Toys R Us and Spencer's for over a year. The two new series of redesigned balls are great, and the upcoming third series looks cool.

Why not make a game about fucking go-bots while they're at it or ALF: Escape from Melmac.

I always thought Madballs was a ripoff of Garbage Pail Kids.
And someone mentioned M.U.S.C.L.E.S. - I've still got a pack of about 30 of those things. My nephews love 'em. Those were the last toys I remember buying... It was either that, or the old Worlds of Wonder Lazer Tag set. That was damn near 25 years ago.

Description fail. "Sphere-shaped ghouls of rubber" would have been so much more accurate.

the proton pack is *not* a toy.
