Look at him! Couldn't you just eat the little guy up with a spoon? We're getting our first looks at screens and video (check after the break) from family-friendly Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest, and they're just precious. If you think Lil' Aragorn is cute, wait until you see the kiddy-fied hobbits. They're like squishable, baby-shaped teddy bears.
On a completely unrelated note, do you think we could crack open J.R.R. Tolkien's coffin and use his spinning corpse to power a small generator? Just curious.
I'm surprised how kids these days think that the the character has to look like the most recent actors that played the part in the most recent movie, specially book based movies.
The same thing happened with the recent portrayal of the Joker, everyone says that the best Joker that there will ever be but everyone knows the Joker doesn't look like that, a more accurate choice would have been their first choice Crispin Glover, but the Heath Ledger was a very powerful performance and you forget that it doesn't look like the character.
Thats what i thought to. Looks fantastic. I love Fable 1 and have played through the PC version about 3 times. If this game looks to be similar in quality/fun/gameplay then SIGN ME THE FUCK UP!
Well, I think the style is cartoony in the way TP was cartoony, not in the way WW was cartoony. And -- oh wait, you were just commenting to spam your website. Nevermind.
Did they actually get Sean Astin to do Sam's voice? If not that voice actor did a really good imitation job.
But yeah, I actually really enjoyed the console Return of the King game when it came out, though I doubt it would hold my attention much anymore. Still, a Zelda-esque Lord of the Rings game could be really, really awesome if done correctly. Show me some more Gandalf and I'd probably be in.
The aesthetic is just window dressing. Gameplay is all. Remember "The World Ends With You"? Looked retarded, but lots of people seemed to like it. Maybe this will be rather fun.
I have no idea if the graphics suit the game, but I definitely want to see more games that look like this. Every new game free of brown sludge is a major step forward.
I agree on that there are too much gritty gray/brown games, but we need more games Beyond Good and evil-Style, not Winnie the Poo meets Hello Kitty-style!
No! We most definitely need more Hello Kitty-style games! (And this one isn't cute *enough*.)
...but I'm really, really not sure that Lord of the Rings is the right franchise for it. (Actually, let me rephrase that - I'm really, really sure that it isn't.)
This actually looks pretty decent. If the gameplay can come close to Zelda, then I'm perfectly willing to play this. I don't think the gameplay looks too kiddy anyway, or if it does, I'm happy with the style. I'm all for games which aren't the usual colour palette of grey, brown and green, and I don't go into games to feel depressed so this'll maybe be a game I'd consider getting for the Wii.
Good Point, Justin...because lord knows JRR Tolkien NEVER wrote anything intended for a young audience. Especially not anything to do with The Hobbit. Oy vey.
Looking at it reminded me first of Zelda, then of Fable. Both were epic games, so if they can get that kind of feel to it, I think it'd be a fantastic game.
Of course, I'm not EXEPCTING it to be able to nail that kind of feel, but hey. It'll at least be worth a rent.
