Screens, video from LOTR: Aragorn's Quest are just adorable

On a completely unrelated note, do you think we could crack open J.R.R. Tolkien's coffin and use his spinning corpse to power a small generator? Just curious.

This actually looks really cool. Plus, a second player can join in to cast spells as Gandalf.
phillipsteak @ May 30th 2009 12:42AM
it sure does look good (TO A RAPIST!!)
and yes i think his corpse can generate enough power
mr nimblewick @ May 30th 2009 12:44AM
Can you honestly say you don't want a Zelda-esque game set in the LOTR world?
Skambu @ May 30th 2009 12:48AM
Yes.
tuunicopapi @ May 30th 2009 1:06AM
+1 point for mr nimblewick
this game is starting to catch my eye. hope it turns out to be fun. and if it has online co-op then HELL YES!! FRICKEN AWESOME!
motang @ May 30th 2009 2:18AM
Yeah it does look pretty cool!
MystileArmor @ May 30th 2009 8:47AM
Zelda-esque: Yes.
Fucking Hello-Kitty-esque with glitter covered strawberries: NO!
Ridgecity @ May 30th 2009 5:29PM
This looks like the paintings done by the Hildebrant Brothers, they guys approved by Tolkien HIMSELF as the accurate description of his books:

I'm surprised how kids these days think that the the character has to look like the most recent actors that played the part in the most recent movie, specially book based movies.
The same thing happened with the recent portrayal of the Joker, everyone says that the best Joker that there will ever be but everyone knows the Joker doesn't look like that, a more accurate choice would have been their first choice Crispin Glover, but the Heath Ledger was a very powerful performance and you forget that it doesn't look like the character.

so when he beheads a troll will blood come out or just green sugary goodness?
Unplugged @ May 30th 2009 12:39AM
Hopefully green sugary goodness so I can laugh and call them boogers.

You sir now owe me another keyboard.
Sly, King of the First Isle of inFamous [PSN SniperChameleon] @ May 30th 2009 1:14AM
he can buy you 3000 keyboards. he's THAT RICH.
ThatPCgameryouhate @ May 30th 2009 2:31AM
3000 Keyboards pfff. That's nothing, Chris Grant uses over 9000 every day, just trying to think of something to right.
xblingdaddy2005x @ May 30th 2009 12:38AM
That doesn't look terrible...
VENOM @ May 30th 2009 12:41AM
Awwwwwww.
The Dark Wayne @ May 30th 2009 12:42AM
wow um, that doesn't look bad. Reminds me of fable 1
J.Goodwin @ May 30th 2009 3:11AM
Exactly, looks just like Fable...1.
Foetoid @ May 30th 2009 3:29AM
Thats what i thought to. Looks fantastic. I love Fable 1 and have played through the PC version about 3 times. If this game looks to be similar in quality/fun/gameplay then SIGN ME THE FUCK UP!
Sunborn @ May 30th 2009 12:52AM
This could actually be a fun little adventure game.
Victor @ May 30th 2009 12:54AM
Screw nuclear reactors, Tolkien's corpse > all.
KeenCommander @ May 30th 2009 12:55AM
I don't think the style looks bad at all. Dark and solemn is not the one true way to interpret Lord of the Rings, you know.
LxgShaka @ May 30th 2009 1:04AM
No, but it IS the only good one :)
Now on a more serious note, the game doesn't seem THAT bad for a "family friendly" game. I mean, I doubt I will be buying it, but still
mr nimblewick @ May 30th 2009 1:12AM
Well, I think the style is cartoony in the way TP was cartoony, not in the way WW was cartoony. And -- oh wait, you were just commenting to spam your website. Nevermind.
Dopple Boppler @ May 30th 2009 1:15AM
Did they actually get Sean Astin to do Sam's voice? If not that voice actor did a really good imitation job.
But yeah, I actually really enjoyed the console Return of the King game when it came out, though I doubt it would hold my attention much anymore. Still, a Zelda-esque Lord of the Rings game could be really, really awesome if done correctly. Show me some more Gandalf and I'd probably be in.
J.Goodwin @ May 30th 2009 3:12AM
They totally should have given them bobblety voices like Star Fox.
LaughingTarget @ May 30th 2009 7:39AM
Nah, they need the guy from Willow. Every hobbit needs to sound like they're reading their lines between taking breaths from a helium tank.
Nimz @ May 30th 2009 1:34AM
My soul was torn in two when I saw that picture of Aragorn.
Trying to make a Horcrux? Just play Aragorn's Quest.
MechaGamerX @ May 30th 2009 1:50AM
KILL IT!!
KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!
SolidPunisher @ May 30th 2009 2:04AM
first thing i thought of when i saw it was fable.
headkicker @ May 30th 2009 2:06AM
This won't end well. Remember The Hobbit game.
aj @ May 30th 2009 2:11AM
The aesthetic is just window dressing. Gameplay is all. Remember "The World Ends With You"? Looked retarded, but lots of people seemed to like it. Maybe this will be rather fun.
Misfit Toy @ May 30th 2009 2:28AM
Because of this game...somewhere...a kitten has died. Sad.
smcn @ May 30th 2009 9:16PM
Are you saying you pleasured yourself to these screenshots?
Azariel_z @ May 30th 2009 3:50AM
"How to Grow a Beard" by Link... So Zelda will be a brunette now??
Feba @ May 30th 2009 4:09AM
LOZ grew the beard way back at LTTP. Ocarina, at least.
DaveMcRae the Haiku Artist @ May 30th 2009 4:53AM
I can't wait for Yathzee to review this game.
Burnt Meatloaf @ May 30th 2009 8:02AM
I have no idea if the graphics suit the game, but I definitely want to see more games that look like this. Every new game free of brown sludge is a major step forward.
DaveMcRae the Haiku Artist @ May 30th 2009 9:50AM
I agree on that there are too much gritty gray/brown games, but we need more games Beyond Good and evil-Style, not Winnie the Poo meets Hello Kitty-style!
sam @ May 30th 2009 9:57AM
No! We most definitely need more Hello Kitty-style games! (And this one isn't cute *enough*.)
...but I'm really, really not sure that Lord of the Rings is the right franchise for it. (Actually, let me rephrase that - I'm really, really sure that it isn't.)
ArchiGamer @ May 30th 2009 9:00AM
(with hesitation) Adorable?
mr mobius @ May 30th 2009 9:00AM
This actually looks pretty decent. If the gameplay can come close to Zelda, then I'm perfectly willing to play this. I don't think the gameplay looks too kiddy anyway, or if it does, I'm happy with the style. I'm all for games which aren't the usual colour palette of grey, brown and green, and I don't go into games to feel depressed so this'll maybe be a game I'd consider getting for the Wii.
Rob Accomando @ May 30th 2009 10:35AM
looks good.
That's a huge shield though. =)
Haohmaru (PSN - DimmuBurgerKing XBL - A Real Puppet ) @ May 30th 2009 11:41AM
The comparisons to Fable don't seem that far off, really. Will see how the gameplay holds up before judging.
HDpurist @ May 30th 2009 12:25PM
Looks like GARBAGE. We've all seen this quality of graphics...8 years ago.
WizarDru @ May 30th 2009 1:38PM
Good Point, Justin...because lord knows JRR Tolkien NEVER wrote anything intended for a young audience. Especially not anything to do with The Hobbit. Oy vey.
Descender @ May 30th 2009 2:51PM
Looking at it reminded me first of Zelda, then of Fable. Both were epic games, so if they can get that kind of feel to it, I think it'd be a fantastic game.
Of course, I'm not EXEPCTING it to be able to nail that kind of feel, but hey. It'll at least be worth a rent.
intro94 @ May 30th 2009 8:44PM
the grind has a trailer but joystick preffers to post this?weird.
S. Tiger @ May 30th 2009 11:48PM
Is that Kingdom Hearts?
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ May 31st 2009 4:31PM
If this is for the Wii it looks fantastic.
