Square Enix has seemingly jumped the gun on at least some of its E3 news, with the trailer for Nier finding its way online, not to mention the game getting an official website. Hey, there's even gameplay!
The art style looks like a pretty dramatic departure from the Japanese company's usual androgynix, not to mention the vast swathes of blood. Maybe that has something to do with Square's recent fascination with the Western market? That remains to be seen. We'll assuredly see more as the week progresses, though feel free to peruse our gallery of screens below in the meantime.

This looks like what Prince of Persia 2008 should have been, a game that includes many fights as much as platforming as well. Nier could be the game that prefectly blends good storytelling, graphics, and fascinating gameplay elements.. We'll see where Square Enix will lead us to.

Someone should really tell Square Enix that the reason western games like them so much, is the fact that there games have had an eastern feel to them.
This seems like DMC, Bayonetta, God of War, or Dante's Inferno.. but not as good.

I don't think they look Androgynous...if you saw a guy looking like that walking down the street the first thing you'd think is not 'Ooh..he looks Androgynous' , you'd think 'Gee...he looks like a homosexual'.

No offense but the graphics look a little last gen, is it me or are the textures kind of weak. game play looks good, but the graphics on level six need to be tightened up.

I remember seeing a screenshot of this in the PlayStation Magazine (aka PlayStation: The Official Magazine) a few months back, when Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 was on the cover. This game looks great. Hopefully there will be more footage of this game later on.
Oh, and despite all the leaks, there is stuff that we still haven't seen from the expo. I'm really looking forward to the conferences and live game videos & demos that haven't been shown yet. Man, there's going to be a barrage of video game footage starting Tuesday!!
