Revealed via leaked survey just over a month ago, Mass Effect for the iPhone seeks to fill in the story of a couple characters appearing in upcoming sequel, Mass Effect 2. So far, the little we know from the BioWare Blog paints the picture of a game that fills in the gaps between Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, following the story of Jacob Taylor.
Citing the "limitations" of Apple's handheld, Mass Effect Galaxy is comprised of "a very defined beginning, a middle with three branches, and an end sequence that takes the player to the final showdown with the game's antagonist." BioWare is staying mum on more info to do with the game but hopefully we'll see more on the game this week at E3.

Is it sad that the first thing I thought was, "Those boobs seem kinda big for that frame"?

My first thought, actually a two parter, was
Why is this animated, and why is it on the iphone and not the psp where they could at least kind of make it like a weaker 360 version?

Nah, it would've been sad if you thought those boobs weren't big enough for that frame.

@cesaria: Yeah, because who pirates games for the iPhone? That's just crazy...

they should have made it on the psp. Psp has more hardcore owners.

PSP owners? More hardcore than Apple owners who willingly pay for higher priced materials? Never.
(Here come the down votes for knocking Apple products, but lets face it, when a company prices a Mobile Intel Core 2 Quad @ 1.83GHz for $1153.70 when you can get one retail for $360.57 @ 2.00GHz...)

Not being on the PSP probably has something to do with Mass Effect being a pseudo-Microsoft exclusive (pseudo thanks to this game). And yeeeeeah... those boobs are "kinda" massive. Didn't know they could fit in that suit, much less exist in the ME universe... or any universe... I want to go to there...

More like "They should have made it an XBLA title", or really put it on anything that doesn't force you to buy into a cell phone plan to own the platform. I don't want the iPhone. I love Mass Effect, I've read the books, and I don't like that I'll be cut off from part of the story of the universe because I don't want AT&T's phone plan or Apple's expensive(and admittedly impressive) piece of hardware.

Maybe (if we're really, really ridiculously lucky) BioWare might put this as some kind of an extra on a special edition or possibly even the regular version of ME2? Who knows, it's a possibility they should tease around with if they don't at least make it an XBLA title.

You are aware that all iPhone apps and games can be used on an iPod Touch?

no baron it's not like that at all, because the PS3 and 360 were just new iterations and from the same company that made the original. It might have been witty but it didnt really fit at all.

While I wasn't aware that the iPhone apps could be used on an iPod Touch, it doesn't much matter. My media is on a Zune. I certainly don't *hate* the iPod, the Zune is just an overall better fit for me, and I just don't see the point in owning two such devices.

Thanks a lot, Bioware: for making a game I want on a platform I have no way of ever owning. The mobile providers in my area don't offer the iPhone. Wait to limit your audience with a title that would sell well on a real gaming platform like the DS.

As for the boobs, the bigger the better... in every case! Who cares if they are seemingly bigger than realistic... it's a goddamn video game girl... it's not supposed to be real (even though I have seen a number of small figured girls with very large and very real boobs... so this isn't THAT unrealistic)

China Town wars didnt sell as well as they expected, but I think it's doin alright. As for a Mass Effect on the DS, well its an RPG and they usually do well on the DS, and Bioware already made that Sonic RPG for DS, so I think it could do alright.

For shits sakes. THE APPS WORK ON AN IPOD TOUCH! Every time there is an app this site covers at least on person complains about only being able to play it on an iphone. It looks like apple is doing a shitty job explaining this.

I see your point, But if it's gotta be on a portable device, do you think a game like this will do better on the iPhone as opposed to the DS (or even the PSP for that matter).
My point really was more that the iPhone is a "limited" device, in that not everyone with money can purchase and use one, whereas a DS is accessable to more people.

Right, firstly psp is a bit nonsensical. How many xbox owners have and regularly use a psp. secondly ME2 isnt planned for ps3 to my knowlage so why release it on its sister unit? thirdly: if it was on psp people will expect full 3d and a mini version of ME where bugits and production times jump up which they dont want when making another entirely new mass effect game. Fourthly this game i would expect to be on for no more than £6 which is alot less than the £30 or more youd pay for a ds or psp title. I think they chose the ipod because its not in the whole console debate. people arguing why should I buy an Ipod for this. Simple. you shouldnt you should buy it cause of its features and games. if they made a psp or ds version then people would just say why should I buy that for the one game where as ipods are owned on mass and you wont not-buy it because you have a DS/psp.
Now why they didnt make an XBLA game, that is beyond me. expanding horizons? people enjoy shorter games on a ipod than sat on the sofa? either way im buying. I like ipod games to break up my commute to work.

I don't think you quite understand the story or my post, so allow me to try and explain. This story is about a new "video game", Mass Effect, appearing on the iPhone; it's not an application, it's a game. My (valid) complaint is that I will be unable to play said game as a result of the game being limited to just the iPhone (because I don't own one, and can't own one in my area of residence as a result of local mobile providers). I said that it should be released on a more dedicated gaming platform such as the DS (which is far more accessable, audience-wise). I have no problem with it being on the iPhone, but as I said, it shouldn't be limited to this.
Hope you better understand now.

I would assume the article is wrong then, since as far as I can tell there isn't a single application that you can't download to both an iphone or ipod touch. Now is it guaranteed to work? I can't say that, but I would assume that since probably 99 percent of the games work across both devices unless this one requires a data connection or access to your cell phone service it will.
Just my assumption. In the end, I want to play lots of games on PS3, I don't want to pay for one. Therefore I don't get to play. Same thing here.
Just a game people.

To those complaining that this only works on an iPhone: this will also work an an iPod touch. Trust me, I have one and I have yet to encounter an app that won't work. The only real difference for apps is that if it requires an internet connection I need to find wi-fi.
If you want to play this game, you can get a refurbished 8GB ipod touch for $160 (1st gen) or $180 (2nd gen). Mine is a refurb and it came looking as good as new and I've never had a problem with it, and the warranty is the same as for a new one. http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/ipod/ipod_touch?mco=MTE3NzE
