How the hell did we make it this far into the comments without someone saying anything about HOLLY ROCKWOOD'S name?!?

I mean c'mon, I know the interwebs did not just mature overnight.

Seriously her name is like "bowm chicka wao wao"

lol, according to her linkedin profile she was with the Old Navy division of Gap, Inc. before going to EA, so I guess she could probably rock my wood while wearing affordable khaki cargo pants! XD

hahaha, nice find there, pal. Unfortunately, doesn't appear as though Hallmark channel is offered here via Cox in San Diego. Although I did look up the episode that starts at 1PM EST:

"Rose is crazy about her latest boyfriend, Ernie, but can't understand why he doesn't approach the subject of sex so when she forces the subject she learns the truth, he's impotent. Meanwhile, a mysterious feather in the mail has Sophia acting strange."

Ahhhh, I swear the episode synopses are enough to give me a laugh every time.

Wow how did that go from some chicks name and the innuendos that could be, to old women and impotency?

unlike spore, piracy means nothing here.

It's the sims. this game is going to hit 2-3 million by the end of june at the latest.

And because theres no DRM issues to make people scream this time around and EA actually made the game worth buying i don't think you'll see anymore than 500,000 copies pirated.

Nice job trying to use some damage control except that most people could see the holes in it from a mile away.

But hey if a rep says it and some random person can use photoshop its gotta be true! Right guys?!

$20 says /v/ is the main consumer. They have a sticky on the front page saying "SIMS 3 HAS BEEN LEAKED", which is pretty much saying "GO TORRENT IT!"

No. I pirated it, and it's the full version. There are no bugs, and Riverview is present. I saw no such screen during installation or play.

It all depends on what torrent you got. When the game first leaked, the version running around was incomplete and somewhat buggy.

So they're saying that we're playing a beta currently so be sure to look out for new torrents with a retail rip when the game ships?

Thanks EA, I'll be sure to get the proper scene release in addition to the finished-looking 'beta' that my girlfriend is playing right now.

Also, the version I have doesn't have that message in the launcher... could it be possible that EA is just making shit up or there's also the possibility that there's more than 1 rip out there and at least one if them's retail.

So wait... I downloaded the first copy of TS3 that leaked, it was May 18th I believe. It was also a scene rip, meaning the rippers had to have a copy of the actual game itself, ion think that was the buggy version....

I really don't think there is A buggy version out there. I think EA just released that statement so that the people that bootlegged it would have an urge to buy the game once released.

Holly Rockwood, an awesomely named EA PR rep, responded to the downloads by explaining, "the pirated version is a buggy, pre-final build of the game," and that, "it's not the full game.

Bullshit. The version my friend got online is ripped from the final. If you're going to try and dissuade people from pirating, at the very least, don't lie out your ass.

180,000 is under-representative of the total pirated copies.. (I'm currently at a table with two other people, both of them playing Sims 3, but only one actually downloaded it.

Also, its like crack to them.

Honestly, I just didn't want to wait for my preorder to come in. The game is quite fun, and I haven't noticed any bugs.

Might I add that Riverview is free DLC available on the launch date, and won't actually be packaged with the game. Nothing indicates that the leaked build isn't final.

Look, even the full retail version does not ship with this other town, its 100% download after install.
And while you can get it, you will not get the 1000 free simpoints that you get with the game. Not get access to the Facebook/MySpace part of Sims 3, nor will you be able to share creations or download other peoples creations via the Sporepedia-esk system they have bundled in there.

Another crack will come along, but no matter how hard you crack it, you will never get the same amount of content for it as a person who buys it will.

"it's not the full game. Half the world -- an entire city -- is missing from the pirated copy."

You know...who gives a toss when the half world was full enough. Also shamefully the pirates got hold of the patch which brings the rest of the game there.

If EA just released this when it was complete, they wouldn't of had any of this f!%king bother.

whatever helps you sleep at night thinking you aren't one more douche on the pirate ship sinking PC gaming.

Never knew it was excellent? You might have heard of this new thing called the internet. It has some cool features, like enabling you to find reviews of games before you buy them. Some of them even have moving color pictures to help you decide if a game looks good or not.

But finding that information is probably beyond your level of expertise.

I'm not concerned about my ethics just my annoyance. I can't play The Sims 3 'cause I don't have enough bloomin' Ghz so I think my only other option is to download the game from a torrent.
