The recent re-emergence of Sam Fisher from the shadows of ... uh, awkward stealth game metaphors has prompted several questions: Where has the gravelly voiced assassin been for the last few years? Is Ubisoft still toying with social stealth? And is the game still exclusive to the Xbox 360?
A partial answer to the last question may be evident in the large Splinter Cell: Conviction banner draped across the Los Angeles Convention Center. It's notable not only for the distinct lack of self-pitying scruff, but for being the only banner to prominently display only the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live logos. Of course, as we've learned in the time since the game was first announced, "exclusive" doesn't always mean what we think it means.

I loved all of the Splinter Cell games, although I admit DA was a bit dissapointing. Certain things in the story just didn't make sense, and it felt like the story was more there to function as a gimmick then as a story.
I do think from what I've seen from very early gameplay footage, that they had a cool concept going on. If they can blend the openness and staying undiscovered in public with the sneaking around in buildings and corridors, I think this might be the best Splinter Cell yet.
Either way, exclusives have their pro's and con's, and it's always been like that since Sonic and Mario. We'll all dealt then and we will now.

Yeah you're right, but most of the times on the advertisements and banners they list all the consoles it's available for.
Either way, we'll find out soon enough.

Look at the size of the Conviction banner vs Assassins Creed 2. Seems like Sam Fisher is a little outdated........

What's your point? That you're too poor to afford another console, so you have to justify your purchase to anonymous people on the internet? No one cares

Oh phew! I was worried for a second there! I wasn't sure about what games you like to play. But now you've made this totally relevant list in a news post, I can now rest easy.
THANK YOU!

You're just contributing to the problem by claiming there's a "PS3 owner you can respect".
Just stop with the fanboism.
PS. Xbox wins.

I hope Conviction's multiplayer component has a lifespan longer than six months.

That doesn't mean it'll have multiplayer. Sometimes it has the Xbox Live logo and on the back cover it says 'Friends'...um yeah. Most probably it has multiplayer but sometimes it's just there to show people the Live logo.

If I were Microsoft and this game was delayed as long as it has been, I'd make damn sure that it was still exclusive whenever it finally came out.

Its pretty awesome. I can't give you too much information though, because I enjoy the outrageous arcadey action that MGS can provide. Splinter Cell is much more focussed on patience and technique (there's often many methods of going about a situation, like killing someone, interrogating someone, 'hacking' the system or finding an alternate entry point.
I hope rare announces Perfect Dark XBLA along with the next 360 Perfect Dark :) But then again, after Banjo Kazooie N&B, I'll probably buy anything with the Rare logo.

I'm still hoping for a PC version...
I LOVED the SC series, but 2 and 4 were a little bit weak. The original was amazing and the third was epic, and both were developed by the same studio that's doing 5. I'm crossing my fingers for a PC release alongside the console versions.

EBgames still has this listed for PC and its not that far away, I think if they had canceled the PC version EBgames would have taken it down by now. I'm totally still expecting a PC version.

Actually, Ubi Annecy made all Splinter Cell versus modes. But Shanghai did fuck the single player up pretty bad.

Seriously though, there is no way Ubisoft is going to miss out on so much money. The Playstation 3 is gaining momentum everywhere at this point and Splinter Cell was a large part of the Playstation 2; considerably larger than for the Xbox.
Timed exclusive. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Seriously, what the hell? Some of you commenters are intentionally provoking console-war, what for? Do you think that in any way you are not contributing by saying "Omg the fanboys will come any second now!" and similar stuff? Some of you guys are just pathetic.
I only have a ps3, therefor i should say:
- Damnit, I wish this was coming to ps3, you guys are lucky! :)
And xbox360 owners should answer:
- Yeah that sucks, but hey, why don't you come visit and I'll let you try it out! :D
It doesn't really have to be a pointless "war" where the same stupid arguments and opinions shows up.
Hope Splinter Cell turns out to be a great game, even if it is 360 exclusive.

It'll probably only be exclusive for like a year, like Bioshock.
