Activision announces megaton surprises for 2010: 007, Tony Hawk, Call of Duty

Activision, as the bastion of original IP development, announced a number of megaton titles in development for 2010. Names dropped at its investor's call include new additions to its venerable lineup of franchises: 007, Tony Hawk, Spider-man, Transformers and Shrek.

Those hungry for innovation will be able to look forward to a new original action IP from the company. In addition, Activision plans on expanding the Call of Duty franchise to new genres. Call of Duty Kart? Call of Duty Party? Call of Duty Hero: Metallica? We're psyched.

I can see it now Face Puncher with 25 faces to punch, followed by Face Puncher 2 with 30 faces to punch, then Face Puncher III: Legends of Punching with 35 faces to punch and it comes with a head peripheral, then Face Puncher: Kicking Ass with 40 faces to punch and it comes with a full body peripheral that is compatable with your head peripheral, and finally Face Puncher: Bobby Kotick featuring Bobby making 25 different faces for you to punch along with 10 faces of his friends and family

new genres? and is there now any doubt at how much Bobby there will molest and exploit CoD?

I'd put money on a Call of Duty strategy game (either RT or TB).

Call of duty: world tour at war while racing karts listening to Metallica on their iPhones.

But somehow...I feel this is the turning point for call of duty. Kind of like what guitar hero is now.

OK, so 2010's CoD won't be made by IW. No purchase for me.

Treyarch did a good job on W@W! The "only" thing that set them apart was the setting & guns. Stop all this stupid worthless hate!

@ Jackofnotrade: No. The gameplay, the story, and the MP was all terrible compared to MW. The only thing I like about WaW is the nazi zombies.

The only reason W@W turned out halfway decent was because they were using IW's engine. The game is basically CoD4 with a WW2 skin on it...

It's pretty obvious it's going to be a Call of Duty RTS.

Or, like they said, a kart racing game. With guns...

I really don't get why people hate Activision so much. So what if they release more games?

Though I do think that the CoD franchise should stop soon, no matter who is developing it (whether it be Treyarch or Infinity Ward).

I'm all for a game that is nothing but killing Nazi zombies.

Because Activision is now trying to influence Blizzard.

Starcraft 2, is probably what Activision told them to do, don't release anything full make people waste their money.

The GH franchise hasn't changed, they don't do very much DLC why? Because its easier to make more money with 60 dollar games than say Rock Band does with its 2.50 DLC packages.

Plus they are becoming the new EA just milking and milking until people are tired of it. Like DJ Hero, that's a game has been out since the late 90s from Konami called Beatmania. Or DJ something.

They don't have anything new to offer and making Blizzard look like scum bags.

They milk their franchises. They hand call of duty to treyarch every other year, they release a ton of Guitar Hero games, they used to milk Tony Hawk to no end, and it kept getting worse and worse until they actually got competition, now they are starting to again,

But like Guitar Hero theres probably like 6 or 7 games this year. GH:M, GH:VH, GH5, Band Hero, GH:DS (The new one), GH:PSP, and there may be another. Thats 6 games.

@xera- on the flipside, EA has gotten much better with original franchises like Mirrors Edge, Battlefield: Bad Company (Well, half-original), Dead Space, among others.

That's because EA has better developers than Activision.

They don't really rely on Infinity Ward or Nevershit to make good games.

It's probably just some random band that's getting a Guitar Hero title anyway...
