Bungie confirms Halo: Reach, beta included with Halo 3: ODST

- Bungie and Microsoft are working on a new Halo game, called Halo: Reach.
- It's out in 2010.
- Purchasing Halo 3: ODST will net you entry into the Halo: Reach Xbox Live multiplayer beta.
- You will probably buy it.

I was wondering the same thing. Kind of says something that developers are at the point where they just announce the franchise they're working on, not what the game actually is.

it's Halo. no offense, but do they really need to announce anything else about it? people will buy it regardless. it's one of the biggest franchises on the planet (and definitely the biggest in gaming).

yeah it is, the trailer had a planet, and what appeared to be a time elapsed sorta deal, we hear radio chatter about picking up slipsace ruptures, then the planet slowly rotates and erupts in fire, one guy on the radio stops talking and when the other demands response, after a few seconds of silence, we hear a guy pick up the signal and say "Sir, Spartans on the ground, we aren't going anywhere"

Yeah, it's based on the Halo book Fall of Reach. Reach is where a 5 year old Master Chief and hundreds of other kids were ruthlessly trained into Spartans. Read the book if you have the chance. It's a really good read.

I'm really hoping Reach will explore the Spartan III program, maybe with a high level of character customization. It'd fit perfectly with that storyline.

Seriously. Reach has only one interesting fact about it: it fell. The trailer showed the planet being burned to glass.
My guess is it's not going to be an Animal Crossing spin-off where you build human farm colonies.

It's a prequel, and it's kind of unfair to compare Activision to Bungie.
That sounds like an un-educated response from somebody who is just repeating a comment they heard somebody else say, in order to have something to say at all.
Bungie is a small independant studio, with a lot of hits, but only one really big money-making franchise, which everybody likes (Or most people like).
As much as I'd like to see Bungie get into a new, or older, franchise, I don't expect it.

If you look at the logo for Halo:Reach at 1:18, it appears that there is a silhouette of multiple Spartans side by side.
Another indication that you'll finally have be able to use multiple Spartans, probably in a squad-based manner.

God I hope this is the squad based shooter ala Rainbow 6 that has always been rumored for HALO....
If you've read the book.......The Spartans all had different strengths and worked as a team in squads...it would only be appropriate if this was the case.
I envision them being as badass as Arnold's team in the beginning 1/2 of the PREDATOR movie.

Idk, if this can be exactly like the book. Listen to the Spartan's call sign. Its 259, the leader of the Spartans on Reach was Fred-104. There aren't even 200 spartans. I'm confused though. It HAS to be a prequel seeing as the war ending.. Or it can be something 40 years in the future and their rebuilding reach given the fact that these have to be a second group of spartans. Ah Speculation sucks.
