Crackdown 2 announced for Xbox 360

The footage appeared to be an in-game cinematic and showed a monster emerging from a sewer. We noticed that, while the game's art style is reminiscent of the original's, it did appear slightly more realistic. Also as rumored, the game is being developed by Ruffian Games, a studio comprised of many former Realtime Worlds staffers who worked on the first game. No release timeframe was teased. We'll do our best to crack down Microsoft's PR walls and get more info on the game over the next four days.

I know! It's as if it was quickly cobbled together to meet some sort of deadline or something...

I'm seriously excited for this however the bar has been raised significantly since the last Crackdown game via Infamous. I sure as hell hope the dudes developing Crackdown 2 have paid attention!
rruss79 @ Jun 1st 2009 2:30PM
After playing Infamous, The bar isn't that high. There are a lot of things the old crackdown does better than Infamous without giving the hero projectile powers.
Drew -- PS360: uphillbothways @ Jun 1st 2009 2:38PM
There were projectile weapons in Crackdown. They were called guns.
Sly, King of the First Isle of inFamous [PSN SniperChameleon] @ Jun 1st 2009 3:00PM
yeah, honestly, inFamous left quite a bit to be improved on.
Vcize @ Jun 1st 2009 4:37PM
As fun as it is to throw around lightning, inFamous is basically just a stripped down version of Crackdown with a story.
Still very fun, but definitely didn't raise any bars.
todd @ Jun 1st 2009 2:31PM
Hells ya!
Hoffer @ Jun 1st 2009 2:34PM
I'm a couple hours into inFamous and don't think it's doing anything a lot better than Crackdown. Maybe it gets a lot better later in the game??
james @ Jun 1st 2009 2:37PM
uughh. more city infections? first infamous, then prototype.
game will rock socks either way.
Rhamsey @ Jun 1st 2009 2:39PM

Dadidito @ Jun 1st 2009 3:24PM
Fing Crackdown 2... man.. thats going to rock.
Storm Eagle @ Jun 1st 2009 3:28PM
This was easily the most exciting announcement of the whole conference for me. Everything else I already knew about or the trailer/gameplay was pretty band. 2nd place honors go to MW2.
AnthonyGalindoX @ Jun 1st 2009 3:34PM
Regarding the slightly more realistic look of the trailer, the trailer for the first game also looked more realistic than the final product turned out to be.

Rhamsey @ Jun 1st 2009 4:15PM
