Crytek isn't waiting around for the next wave of consoles to hit before melting eyeballs in the living room. In fact, publisher Electronic Arts announced that the German developer is already prepping a follow up to Crysis, this time for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as well as the PC.
Creatively titled Crysis 2, the title is the first built using the studio's new console-ready middleware, CryENGINE 3. Nothing else is known, though with E3 kicking off this week we've opened up a new box of tissues just in case we hear more.

Well, if the video they release earlier says anything, the quality is relatively the same, give or take a couple trees that are 5 miles away. I doubt there will be much difference in the console versions. But the PC version on the other hand will probably end up being the best version graphics wise. Either way, as long as people can have fun, Im fine.

Yeah the demonstration they released a while back showing off the console performance is amazing! I can't wait for this one!

Well technicly Snowblind the more you play your 360 the more heat you build up causing your RROD risk to increase.

"Why would it? The RRoD has nothing to do with playing games, or even the amount you play them."
That's obviously false as simply never playing a game would result in no RRoD. Clearly you have to play a game and get the GPU heated up before the RRoD can occur.

Interesting,I wonder If the quality will variate or they will be same across all platforms.Let's see how Crytek pulls this off.

Hopefully this will be good for PC gamers too. The low and medium settings of Crysis looked awful and were still pretty demanding. Hopefully being forced to optimise their engine for consoles will bring some good and efficient graphics to those levels on the PC version.

One thing: won't console gamers have a lot less incentive to buy it if it's a sequel to a game they can't/haven't played? Unless they bundle in the first one on it.
Either way, the original Crysis was a great game (gameplay-wise, not just graphics), so I can pre-emptively recommend the sequel to everyone.

I played it too but i mean, was the story that important? It was about graphics and chokeslamming koreans while you're invisible. Dont think people really care about the story with this one

I can't wait, loved Crysis and Crysis Warhead. For anyone claiming they couldn't play it on their PC is rather laughable. I have a middle of the road PC and put it at you guessed it medium settings, and it played smooth as butter. The options on those games are so customizable I dare say anyone that could run Half Life 2 can run Crysis.

It's certainly not really an excuse now. Sure, in 2007 when the best card was the 8800 Ultra and the 8800GT wasn't even out, it was a legitimate complaint.
But we're nearing the end of 2009 and not only have graphics cards decreased in price right across the board, but the performance has improved by 50%+

He's not implying that Crysis graphics are on par with HL2 graphics. He's saying that if you're system can run Half Life 2 then it should be able to run Crysis.

You must be joking; maybe if you can MAX Half-Life 2, you'll be able to run Crysis but even then at what quality? Even with a GTX 285 you can't max the game with anti-aliasing at 1920x1200. Luckily the GT300 will be coming out soon, and based on the rumors it sounds like it's gonna be a serious beast. It's supposed to have over 2x the shader logic of the GTX 285 with 512 stream processors, and I suspect it'll finally be the card that can run Crysis on Very High with anti-aliasing.

"Hah, you gotta be shitting me, my laptop almost explode when I put in the Crysis CD. Half Life 2 runs decent on it tho (no signs of lag or anything). You seriously comparing Crysis graphics with Half Life 2 graphics? Seriously?" My laptop runs Warhead fine with Gamer settings and lags when I'm playing Portal. Seriously.

Fuck yes, I really enjoyed the first one, even if it burnt out my processor, and I can't wait for the second. Honestly I just prefer console controls anyway. I don't want to start a flamewar, so I just want to elaborate that's because I'm double jointed in every finger and keyboards are too awkward

I don't mind the keyboard and mouse but i hate sitting on a chair 2 feet away from the screen for hours. Can't be good for my eyes either. (and don't give me that crap about hooking up my pc to my tv, have you ever tried using a mouse on a sofa? exactly. My tv isn't even HD anyway, it's an 'ED' plasma.)

And yes I know that, I bought a wired 360 pad for that very reason.

@ gonintendo - Crysis is compatible with the 360 controller so you wouldn't have to use a keyboard and mouse. ;)

it will be nothing like crysis 1 (the graphics at least) Because the consoles cant handle it.(ok normal pc's cant handle it too :D) If you look at the GDC demo you can see it clearly. (that doesnt mean anything cuz everyone knows gameplay is more important than graphics and i love the gameplay of crysis but it was always foreshadowed of its graphics that it is only a graphic demo and stuff like that rather than a kick ass game. ) Im sure its gonna be an awesome game like the first part!

MGS4 and KZ2 didn't really reach Crysis but were close to that road.Since it's 09 I am sure Crytek has figure out how to make the CryENGINE 3 run similar to 2,I hope.

Billop,
I own Killzone 2, MGS4, and, even after playing them on an HDTV, they still don't look anywhere near as good to my eye as what I've been playing on my PC.

And I don't quite see why Overflow's being voted down. Crysis was not playable at all High settings at launch at a resolution above 1280x720 on a (then) incredibly high end Geforce 8800 GTX without being little more than a pretty slideshow that seldom switched frames. Call it terrible optimization or what you will, but the fact of the matter is that, if system equipped with a videocard like a Geforce 8800 GTX couldn't and still can't manage the game at just all High settings at a decent resolution with a solid framerate despite having a GPU several times more powerful than both the RSX and Xenos (probably still true even if the two were combined), neither the Xbox 360 or PS3 had a chance at offering a comparable or better experience.
