OK, so not a huge shock, but it was great to see the gorgeous Forza Motorsport III revealed and in action. The game will include 400 manufacturers and just generally sounds massive. There are also a bunch of new community features, including the ability to make and upload high-def video.
The funny thing is - a lot of xbox users are very keen on sales to denigrate the PS3, but nobody seems to mention sales when it comes to: Forza (Forza 1 and 2 together barely sold half as much as GT4, Forza 2 nearly outsold by GT5-P!) or Splinter Cell (typical console sales about 1/3rd the sales of a Metal Gear) or Mass Effect (outsold by LittleBigPlanet!!!)
I have played Forza 2 to death and loved it (I have 950/1000 achievement points - the two left out being multiplayer because I have had no luck playing online with the hooligans who seem to populate games nowadays, and I don't know anyone else who plays Forza...)
I just hope the Volvo S60R stays in the game now that I own one in real life :-)
The game looked excellent in motion, Turn 10's site says each car is using 10 times as many polygons as in 2.
It has every little thing I wish 2 had: better side track graphics, more modes (drifting, finally), in car view, car flips. Looks like the damage model is improved, as were so many other things.
Really cannot wait for it.
I couldn't care less about what's happening with GT. If you like it get it, if not don't. I don't have a PS3, so I'm not going to get worked up over a game I can't even buy lol. I'm just glad that both PS and Xbox users have a solid racing game choice.
i'm primarily a GT fan and i played the Forza 2 demo and wasn't very impressed. i'll try it again though cause Forza 3 sounds like it could be pretty good plus (baring some announcement tomorrow) GT5 is taking friggin forever to come out. i really need to satisfy my simulation racer fix, whether it be with Forza or GT.
This really does make Gran Turismo look like a dinosaur. If they can take the copious minutia of GT and actually make a fun game out of it, then I'll be there!
Seems like too much focus on stuff outside of racing. Don't get me wrong - the game looks nice and all, but the only thing I'm really jealous of is crashes.
Forza is definitely a more stylized racing experience, that I would equate along the lines of say Grid with a little more sim added onto it. Forza is more of a COMPLETE racing game, where as Gran Turismo is straight up simulator (besides crashes, of course).
I look forward to what might come out of tomorrow's conference with Sony and see if any news on GT5 can punch back to Forza.
I don't ever want to say it, but a 360 might be worth some money due to this game :P
I'm more excited to hear about more games like GRiD and DiRT to go along with my GT:5 though :D

Even better, Turn Ten has announced that they will be shipping Forza 3: Prologue in September! Only $40.
And it has several tracks in it, so it's not really fair to call it a paid demo!
phinnvr6 @ Jun 1st 2009 2:34PM
If it has 80 cars and 12 years along with online play and HD video downloads then that sounds pretty reasonable for $40.
phinnvr6 @ Jun 1st 2009 2:39PM
Make that 12 tracks.
BxGT @ Jun 1st 2009 3:21PM
Dont forget it has the same physics and sound effects as forza 2, it just looks nicer.
Michael S @ Jun 1st 2009 2:32PM
but so is Gran Turismo 5; perhaps Forza will be solid but won't hold a candle. If the big pull is crashes I'll stick with Burnout Paradise.

I think that bumper car simula... i mean gran turismo is the new duke nukem forever.

I know what I'm asking for on my birthday. I should refresh my skills with Forza 2

400 cars, not manufacturers...

If gt5 doesn't release by october they'll have released all of the 3 forza games in less time that it took to make gt5 :-|
I honestly can't wait for this!
Paul B @ Jun 1st 2009 4:06PM
It's not 400 manufacturers, the fellow revealing it slipped and corrected himself and said it's 50 manufacturers and 400 cars.
