Konami announces Zephyr: Rise of the Elementals
A Konami game about weather elements ... Could it be?! No, it's not Kojima's new game. Konami has announced (during Microsoft's keynote, mind you) a new game for Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3: Zephyr: Rise of the Elementals. In it, you'll control a tornado that grows in a Katamari-esque path of destruction.
With flying cows (pictured above), we can expect Zephyr won't take itself too seriously. The sandbox environments will range from farms to cities. Two players will be able to team up, each with their own tornadoes. This is the first game to come from Loose Cannon Studios, the new team made up of former Sucker Punch veterans. Expect impressions and an interview with the developers later this week.

Hope this is an extremely early build, because it looks awful. Interesting concept though.

Flying cows are never a good thing.
Storm Eagle @ Jun 1st 2009 3:39PM
They did this already. It's called Tornado! And it's available on the iPhone.

You must be thinking of the iphonepodtouch port of the 2006 award winning cellphone game Tornado Mania!
Storm Eagle @ Jun 1st 2009 3:53PM
Yeah, I forgot the 'Mania'. Thanks.
WiNG [XBL&Steam: WiNGSPANTT] from lifeinagame.com @ Jun 1st 2009 3:55PM
Yes, the award winning game was Tornado Mania. I've had it on a normal cell phone for years, it's awesome. It's like Katamari + Sim City. It's like the only mobile game IGN ever gave a 10, and it deserves it.
mike @ Jun 1st 2009 4:21PM
Oh wow, thank you for reminding me of that game. I meant to get this for my cell phone a long time ago. Would you recommend the older cell phone version, or the iPod touch version?
Storm Eagle @ Jun 1st 2009 4:37PM
For me it took a sec to get used to controlling the Tornado, but once you get the hang of it, it's still a lot of fun after all these years. Plus they've added a new, if disposable, game mode.

this looks similar to a free web browser game i played, the game was either at addicting games or gamefudge cannot remember but i do remember it sucking

Speaking of Konami,
I looked at Microsofts conference,
seems like Metal Gear Solid Rising is going to the XBox360...
So maybe this means PS users get MGS on PSP (PSP Go) and
360 users get MGS.
I prefer the full quality MGS on 360 than a MGS on a portable gaming device... :(
I really hope Metal Gear Solid Rising is a multiplatform game...
Game_playa @ Jun 1st 2009 4:41PM
Me too. I don't even want a 360.. But might HAVE to get one
Copland @ Jun 1st 2009 5:49PM
Looks like its a 360 exclusive... :(

>The game is indeed exclusive to the Xbox 360. Sorry, Sony fans.
samik @ Jun 1st 2009 6:30PM
There is another article saying that its NOT 360 exclusive - very confusing state of affairs. Would expect this to be on the PS3 because thats where MGS sells the most, and would cost a LOT to take it off that console (think 5million lost sales)
And interesting how you got downvoted for a harmless comment, looks like the bots are back!

Tornado Mania?
Storm Eagle @ Jun 1st 2009 3:52PM
That's it! See above comment. I got the name wrong.
Hero of legend @ Jun 1st 2009 4:07PM
Yeah, the game looks like it'd barely pass as a PS2 game. :/
Perhaps that's due to the crazy amount of physics effects needed?
This is so far what I'd call wasted potential, seems like Sony-related teams are spinning off these days, like Naughty Dog to Ready at Dawn, Insomniac to Bionic Games, and now Sucker Punch to Loose Cannon Games.
Spyborgs looks awesome and lives up to Bionic's Insomniac days, looks like it'd fit right beside a Ratchet game. Just what I've been dying for on the Wii, something made by one of these ex-Sony teams that gives you a similar experience or mood you know?
Ready at Dawn's been awfully quiet since Okami, which I really want to buy, but the game's practically discontinued where I am, except for like one store where it's $34.99 when it seems that it's supposed to be $20, I'll keep looking though!
Zephyr could end up being good, it's definitely got a similar cartoony feel of the Sly series, a shame that the game itself, at least visually looks so damn underwhelming. :(
Yingerman @ Jun 1st 2009 4:53PM
This game SOUNDS great. I just hope they improve the graphics, it looks terrible. Any info on an expected release time?
sonic the plumber @ Jun 1st 2009 5:35PM
With graphics like that, surely it's more likely an XBLA/PSN game?
Copland @ Jun 1st 2009 6:43PM
Yeah, I found this too. Really confusing...
http://e3.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/696050/Metal-Gear-Solid-Rising-Not-Exclusive-To-360.html
I looked at the Kojima Productions NEXT website which finished countdown,
but there isn't any platform info on it.
Oh, and about me being down voted,
I personally don't take the rating here seriously here :)
But I really appreciate your concern. Thanks :)
Copland @ Jun 1st 2009 6:45PM
Oops, this is a reply to samik.
Sorry, made this a separate post by mistake.
